"Okay, okay, alright!! I'll let you have two more years!! Five!! TEN!! Oh please, I'll give you another chance, just STOP DOING THAHAHAT~!!"I was still in middle school when I finally had access to Cartoon Network in my own home. Oh sure, I came to love the classic Cartoon Cartoons, but it wasn't long before I found out about Adult Swim, particularly, the precursor to modern day Toonami: Action Saturdays. Out of all the anime they aired those nights, I came to really enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho. I tried to sing along to the theme song (you can butcher it even further than the dub, believe it or not), I even thought I could train myself to use Yusuke's signature Spirit Gun. But I don't believe I ever drew Botan, the series famous self-proclaimed "Grim Reaper". I don't know why it never occurred to me to draw one of my biggest anime crushes back then. I especially would have killed to see her in a situation just like this one. And then I realized, there was literally nothing stopping me from doing that. This is pure self-indulgence dating back fourteen years ago. Half my life, now! And wow, was it a blast!!
So now, folks, I leave you with some words of wisdom: if you unexpectedly find yourself among the dearly departed, and this sweet little Grim Reaper tries to carry your spirit away to the afterlife, just remember...

Yeah, she's a cute looking character. Even though I kinda see the series as one of starting points of the decline of Shonen Jump once the late Showa period made way to the more creative stagnation of 1990s, but it's all a matter of opinion. The tropes of Urusei Yatsura sex comedy and Sailor Moon monster of the week fights are in the series dna.

It had a fantastic cast and very memorable characters, but it eventually went the same way as other shonen series of the era, turning into a tournament midway though. I honestly thought it had a lot more potential almost as a sort of detective series... A shame it didn't go that way! It was still a fun one. Thanks for the comment!

No problem, like that's the reason I'm more screenplay written series with original stories like Gargoyles, Bebop, Evangelion, Boondocks, etc. Even some Genndy Tartakovsky and some 1982-97 period OVA's. Print and film are two different mediums ask the people of Aardman animations.
