Description New year, new skills and levels. I thought it would be fitting to update my deviant ID with something a little more reflective of what I'm currently dabbling in. =]

This particular pic is just a test render. The light exposure was blown out a bit but I thought it would look nice as a stylized ID anyway. More detailed renders of this model are to come soon.

Enjoy! *bows* ^^

I have 102 Deviations, good thing I found this. You're using Maya... dang man, I'm falling beyond.

I got to commit myself in making Cobalt again, but haven't touch Maya since version 5 and teaching myself these days is hard, I prefer video tutorials.

Good work buddy.

Great job! The colors, the 3D, I like that ( not really the best comment, sorry ).

so you finished that z-brush (i believe?) model, tell me what was it like anyway? most 3d programs are an ergonomical (best word i can think of) nightmare.

I actually did most of the work in Maya. I did use zbrush a bit when modeling the head but that's about it.

Interface wise, I would say that Maya is akin to Photoshop. There's lots of bells and whistles I have yet to try, but in the same respect, it is also very customizable. Depending on what you want to do, you can setup Maya's interface to suit that task best.

So yeah, it's not so much of an ergonomical nightmare. It just takes some getting used to. Just like photoshop, there's probably a ton of things in the program you will never touch. XD

Your work never ceases to amaze me Chem, you regularly surpass your own skill boundaries again and again. It gives off solid proof that if you put your mind and will towards a goal, nothing is impossible

I must ask though, what was the program you used to make this model? was it zBrush?

Thanks for the kind words. I do make it a conscious effort to make progressive improvements in my work. It's a very satisfying feeling to look back and see how far I've come. =]

For this particular piece, most of it was done in Maya, but I actually used a number of different programs. The hair and tufts were made in 3ds max following the the original design proportions, which were extracted from Second Life. The head was also further refined through zbrush, since I found it rather difficult to sculpt properly in Maya. I'll go into more detail when I post up more shots. XD
