Description Over the years I've been working on collecting crystal emeralds. So far I managed to obtain 5; Orange, blue, green, pink and grey/clear. Hopefully I will manage to obtain the remaining red and violet one soon. Then, who knows what will happen. Muhahah. >8D

Ahem, in any case, I decided to photograph them as a study and reference. You see, I've noticed that most of the games and much of the fan art fails to show the true beauty of these objects. It's not because people are lazy but it is because they are difficult to render both in 3d and especially in 2d. Emeralds are translucent and can be considered as prisms. As such, they should bend light and produce particular "refraction" patterns instead of the a single glow we commonly see. I'm hoping with the next gen consoles, they will manage to pull off the real effect. ^^

Even with a light source coming from within the emerald, it should create somewhat of a glitter effect around it. Each facet and joint splits and concentrates the light. It's quite a sight to see. =]

Those are simply Beautiful.
Where'd you find 'em? Adventuring, Ebay or the jewelers?

Hahah! You know what? I think you can consider that as a special stage.

I actually found most of them in open markets while vacationing in the Philippines. I had to do a lot of haggling to get them to a affordable price though. @_@

So yes Luca. I found them while adventuring in a sense. ^^

This may seem like a slightly silly question, but does that mean... those are REAL?

Heheh, it really depends on what you mean by "real".

If you mean are they real as in actual objects I had to buy as opposed to making them using a 3d program on the computer? Then yes, they are real crystal ornaments slightly bigger than a tennis ball. Quite heavy as well. I just arranged and photographed them. =]

If you mean, are they real as in crystals that hold latent energy which could be used to power machines and give one super abilities, then no. I'm afraid they're not the real thing. XP

ok ok. my uncle was a jeweler and from what i have heard from him and what i have researched, unless you have several million dollars you will not afford an emerald of that size. (let alone find one that doesnt belong to a museum)

i realize that these stones may come under the name of emerald but they are probably just some other kind of mineral with "emerald" as its nickname

srry if i am a party pooper but i like to know about my gems. if you have proof that these are indeed emeralds please send me a link
