Description
I'm really proud of this one. =3 My GEM model rendered out using High Dynamic Range Imaging, HDRI for short. I thought it would be cool to use as a wallpaper. =]Total time to render was a little under 3 minutes using a quad core Vista computer.
Oh, and you can see a short animation of it here:

Enjoy!

looks like a ultra-advanced Vincent robot from the Black Hole movie.

Very nice, looks like something from apple.
Also kinda reminds me of the robots from the (very old) film The Black Hole

I highly prefer this one over the other ones you have presented.
I think its because of the glare and the kind of realism that it has that the other models you've shown don't have.

It might have been faster on XP! I'm given to understand Vista eats up a lot of processing power, just for the OS and interface.
That out of the way, it's very nice and shiny! ^.^ I think it needs something more in order to be a wallpaper, though. Maybe a background, and/or the Technoguild logo?

hey, how come GEM's three floaty things aren't seperated? I thought they usually are... you should seperate them and then have them be spinning around, in another animation =O

I must say Chem that is quite the model, at first I thought it was a photo but was surprised to find its a 3d model, I don't think I've seen something so well done and you manged to make an animation of it, I really mean it the unis I've gone to which have student work showcased, this is like the work of their top students an dare I say better. May I ask what software you used?

Oh, you mean the actual model? Nah, it's just a concept sculpture right now. I haven't yet implemented any sort of camera/motor or computer system into the machine itself. The only electronic thing it can do so far is light up. =]
