Description
Don't tell me I'm the only one who did this.It only works after the town guards becomes Patriots instead of Redcoats, and only for the city Forts, but it's still hilarious
In case my hand writing is terrible:
Step 1: Recruit Patriots (Attack a Guard)
Step 2: Gather Allies (Run around the city [not too fast or you'll lose them] until you have a nice following of angry guards)
Step 3: Invade the Fort (Sprint through the front door)
Step 4: Capture the Fort (I usually stop to watch the battle a bit first)

I do the intended way, I sneak to the gunpowder reserve, blow it up, snipe the leader with a bow, and then raise the flag.

In all honesty, I didn't do that to liberate a fort, I just jumped inside and reeked havoc. >_>; Pretty much, charged in by myself, killed majority of redcoats, looted chest and then did the side objectives. XD I'll have to go through the game again and do this way. Is this how it really works? o.o

No, this is definitely not how this was intended to work XD I was just taking advantage of the fact the game codes Patriots and Loyalists to be aggressive to one another
How the game intended was for you to sneak into the fort (Every single fort had one "hidden" entrance, like a waterwater you can swim into or maybe a tree branch that goes over the walls etc) but of course most people just run in and kill everyone. The Covert Escort option with recruits is another "stealthy" option

My experience is that the covert escort doesn't work to get into forts...

Aha never thought of this.... I always took the stealthy approach and snuck in, picking the guards off silently as possible and timing the use of the gun powder barrels.

I did the stealthy approach for the forts in the frontier.
I also love using the Covert Escort option with the recruits, I think I used that to get to get one of the forts in New York. Really satisying, just walking right through the front door...all those guards jeering and throwing insults at Connor...then BOOM! Hidden Blade meets the throat of the captain
And then there's starting an entire Patriot-Loyalist battle like in this comic. Which if you think about it, is kind of how you're suppose to take a Fort. Not just send in one man XP
So many options, I wish there were more forts to take~

I did all the forts before I had completed even half of my assassin recruit missions so never got to try using the Covert Expert option. I could have used that when doing the New York one thats a solid stone fort - I managed to creep up on the guards at the small side entrance and snuck in that way. Smoke bombs were very handy in the guard room.
I always find the powder reserve before the fort captain. It takes me longer to find that damn captains most of the time then it does to get in and blow up the powder shed....

It depends on the fort. Some of the captains are right out in the open, so they're not that hard to find and I get to them immediately.
Then there's that one bastard who was underground and it took me like 10 minutes of searching before I realized there were tunnels underneath me @.@ I've always been bad with realizing there's a 3rd dimension when I get too fixated on minimaps orz
And I think I know the one you're talking about. A smaller entrance at the docks, guarded by 2? Some hay just inside said entrance? I liked how every fort had some kind of subtle, stealthy way of getting in other than the main gates.

Oh its not the finding them so much that gave me trouble but the fact I was playing Hide and Seek with the guards the entire time.... As an extra bit of fun I challenge myself to certain tasks while raiding the forts, like staying completely unseen, or using only one type of weapon. Otherwise its a bit too quick.
It was the one thats a build in a dug-out hill on the edge of town, which I think is the one with the underground tunnels... can't remember I did so many forts in a short amount of time. I took every fort via the sneaky entrances, never once used my assassin recruits (mostly because they were away on missions when I happened to find the forsts) and was amused by some of the guard reactions to the powder reserves blowing up.

I had an incident when I took Ft. Duquesne, a Redcoat working on a house was still around. I figured that the Patriots were making him fix the fort as a POW, and that Ubisoft was being smart. When I came back, the ENTIRE Patriot garrison was ganging up on this poor guy, who was outnumbered at least 13 to 1 with only his fists. After he died, the garrison attacked me.

Yep, that's him. Same spot, same number of guards. After that, I beat up the entire garrison, steal their money, and try to report them to General Washington (I'm the hero of Lexington, Concord, Bunker Hill, AND Monmouth, but I still get no respect).
Okay, it was also more like 8 to 1.

Honestly, I did most of the forts just charging in, sword out. There's suppose to be a way to stealth sneak into every fort, but honestly, just killing the lot of them was easier >.>
I found out about this last method when I was going around New York near an uncaptured fort, and I saw the town guards getting into a scuffle with the fort guards.
