Description I keep on headshotting people right after scoping. Which is fine if they're a scout or a medic or an engie or something, but...soldiers. Demos. Pyro. Heavies. ):

Need to learn to charge my shots. Having good aim alone is apparently not enough orz

Drew this as a Sniper spray if I ever bother actually figuring out how to turn things into sprays! If anyone else wants to use it go ahead

Oof, I know that feel bro. I never quite understood how someone could survive a headshot. Soldier makes sense a bit because of his helmet, but how do demos and heavies do it? Maybe demoman reflect the bullets with his fro...

This times infinity.
It wastes ammo but I'm too impatient to wait for the shot to charge. ;_____;

Well, at least there's a solution: headshot them again. If you hit them both times immediately after scoping you'd have used less time than fully charging one shot ^^

I KNOW *pulls a chunk of hair out*

I get them RIGHT in the damn head, then they shoot at me three times, I don't get hit, but I die anyway. What the fuck?!

Cherry-Chain In reply to Daksinakke [2012-04-18 21:27:07 +0000 UTC]

Something very demoralizing about scoping in, getting an amazing shot off and seeing that "Critical hit!" only for them to walk away alive to find the nearest med kit ):

GAHHH!!! I hate that too... I even see that -54 mark on them when I'm actually sniping, then seeing them run around like I GOT SHOT I GOT SHOT and then a pyro finishing off the job... but they run around all over hell on fire and either jump into some water or get a medical kit... it's a ruined moment.

The image needs to be smaller for a spray, but you can set it as a spray in your Options in the game, under the Multiplayer tab.
Unless you're like me working off a Macbook, since Valve can't be assed to fix the Mac version. I can't navigate files anymore in the Source file windows. No sprays for me

Cherry-Chain In reply to IceFlame1019 [2012-04-18 15:09:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, you need to convert the file into a .vtf file before it can be used ingame as a spray. I have to find a program to convert the images for me ^^

IceFlame1019 In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-04-18 18:49:46 +0000 UTC]

actually, before the Uber Update last summer fucked up the game, I was able to upload a few PNG or GIF files as sprays directly without the conversion.
now vtf is preferred, and Valve screwed up the file submission in-game anyway so I can't make or use sprays. it sucks. and their solution is to "upgrade to a Windows platform" even when I make it clear in the support ticket that I have no funds for such.

animated sprays though HAVE to be vtf.

I miss my sprays. i had really funny ones.

Bows and Arrows.

Can't go wrong and if it doesn't work just fire another one.

Hay some Pyro may come and set it on fire for you

Naw, not too fond of the Huntsman. Only time I've tried it (It was on medieval mode though, so...iunno) I could never hit anyone if I was aiming and I always got kills if I just loosed arrows randomly into the distance XD

If I want to play some close-action sniping, I'd still use the rifle. I've done some awesome runs as mobile sniper before. Just run around headshotting people left or right...and headshot them again if the first one doesn't kill them. Unless it's a overhealed heavy or soldier no one survives two consequetive headshots. And if they're overhealed, that means a medic is around and the medic is my priority target anyways- and one headshot kills a medic

Just keep me the hell away from pyros @.@ I use the Bushwaka so odds of a close-encounter with Pyros is never in my favour

HokoriTamashi In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-04-18 18:59:16 +0000 UTC]

whats wrong with random loosing? XD no I know why someone like you wouldn't like it I guess you just need to find a good map. I don't remember this ones name but it was great with lots of nooks for both side snipers to hide in and it was close to the central batel point like really really close

I have crappy aim somedays and some days I have great aim, that is why I like the huntsmen.

nor mine lol, you are clearly me superior since I joined the game with in the month. lol

That's really what separates sniping in TF2 with sniping in most FPS's. It's not just about aim, it's about being able to pick a spot, charge up, and get the fuck out of dodge before you get a pyro or scout coming to kill you.

Cherry-Chain In reply to arcanedude34 [2012-04-18 15:01:47 +0000 UTC]

Or sometimes, I just have to headshot them two or three times

What you're describing kind of sounds like what I call mobile sniping (When I'm doing camping-styled sniping I do make sure to move places often anyways though). Which is loads of fun. It's like playing a huntsman sniper. Except with a rifle. Run into the action, scope, get a kill, keep moving, see a target, scope, get a kill, keep moving. Bump into someone, Jarate+Bushwaka them. Scope and kill 'nother.

Really great training for my reflex aiming, really intense, and from all the times I've tried it, pretty effective as long as I never miss XD

Ahaha. This is exactly why I charge my shots. That, and it gives me time to aim properly.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to thegoodsamaritan [2012-04-18 05:19:23 +0000 UTC]

I find that I hit moving targets much better if I don't give myself time to aim. My initial twitch reaction towards their head is much more accurate than any conscious aiming I could ever do @.@

So satisying just scope, pop a head, reload, scope, pop a head...and then the pattern being broken when they don't die from the headshot ):

Had to headshot an overhealed heavy three times in a row once to kill him >.<

thegoodsamaritan In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-04-18 09:02:12 +0000 UTC]

Eh. I guess I'm just more methodical about it. I always aim better when I'm patient about it, you know?

Cherry-Chain In reply to thegoodsamaritan [2012-04-18 21:41:12 +0000 UTC]

My hands get shaky if I'm actively trying to aim XD This is why I find sometimes I have more trouble with stationary targets than moving targets. Stationary targets gives me time to aim, so I miss them >.>;

draenei-friend [2012-04-18 05:10:54 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I almost always charge a shot because my aim sometimes isn't good because I have sweaty hands. I do no-scope people though if they are coming towards me with decent aim.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to draenei-friend [2012-04-18 05:17:10 +0000 UTC]

I charge my shots only when there isn't anything to shoot at and I know enemies are coming soon.

But...usually I just move somewhere so I do have something to shoot at. I only ever consciously charge my shots when there's an overhealed heavy. Though if their medic is exposed I go for their medic since the medic's more important.

draenei-friend In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-04-18 07:02:16 +0000 UTC]

Ah, yes, TF2 players do not care what the Geneva Convention says. Shoot the Medic first! [link]

Cherry-Chain In reply to draenei-friend [2012-04-18 14:52:46 +0000 UTC]

And I feel terrible doing so even though I get a certain sense of achievement for headshotting the second-fastest class in the game who's biggest priority is staying alive.

I never get sniped as Medic Or at least very very rarely. I pride myself in my ability to be the most frustrating sniping target alive and my ability to get the hell out if things get tough. Sorry heal buddies- preserving my uber is more important than preserving you guys for another 2 seconds

draenei-friend In reply to Cherry-Chain [2012-04-18 18:08:46 +0000 UTC]

Coating enemies in piss is demoralizing and the mini-crits sure do help against overhealed Heavies

I mostly play Sniper [although I have been playing Medic more lately] and it certainly is highly irritating to come across a Medic that is moving around quickly and unpredictably.

It makes me think, "STAY STILL YA BLOODY WANKA!" ...and makes me rage at the Medic's awesomeness at staying alive.

I've gotten down from my perch on numerous occasions and have snuck up behind Medic and Heavy pair. I'd jarate them and then hack the Medic to death with my trusty knife quickly before the Heavy can fill me full of lead.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Cherry-Chain In reply to draenei-friend [2012-04-18 21:40:25 +0000 UTC]

Medics are the only case where I would consider bodyshotting them instead of headshotting them if I know I'm charged enough/they're damaged enough for me to oneshot them. My pride as a Sniper is less important than killing their medic XP

Oh god, suicide charges as Sniper @.@ I've saved the game doing that before. Just, the enemy team's about to get the payload in? Jarate, jump in with the Bushwaka, and pray. Evne if I don't kill any of them, if I can stay alive around the cart long enough they can't push it and maybe this'll give my team enough time to send reinforcements
