I don't usually do tutorials, but I found this fire with its layers still existing that I had done maybe over a year ago and thought why not to make a tutorial out of it. x) Hope it helps someone.

How would you suggest painting objects within the fire, like hands or wands?

I got stuck on step 2. It's lacking description and whenever I try to make the holes it comes out blotchy and disgusting.

this is great! This is the only tutorial that I found which is merciful to us mouse users! SO COOL! I prefer to do the outline/glow of the fire last instead of first simply because the shape of the fire changes as you progress through.

I found this tutorial very helpful, thank you so much. I tried to use it for blue fire, and I'm not sure if the result is flawed, or if blue fire simply is brighter in on that aspect. Either way, it turned out well, thank you!

From what I've seen, blue fire is rather lighter and has more white light compared to normal fire. That could be it...
