Description Umm... Okay. So I asked if people would like me to do a wing tutorial and I got a fair bit of positive feedback for the idea.

This is just demonstrating how wings and feathers work. It's not really how I draw them because I pretty much lay down the basic shape and draw feathers where they're supposed to go. I very rarely, if ever, use guidelines. I just want people to understand that feathers have a flow and the basic structure of the wing through this.

It's my first tutorial and it probably isn't very helpful.

Any particular reason why? Or is it just a general wrongness that you thought you had to share?

Sorry if that sounded waspish (no I'm not, actually, it was meant to.) but commenting so briefly and harshly on a tutorial that was made several years ago, without any support or reason behind your claim comes off as a little rude and a lot stuck up.

Well, just one look at the tutorial tells me that the anatomy of the wing is pretty incorrect. Unfortunately I don't have enough English skills to explain why, but taking a look of some other bird wing tutorials (such as this [link] ) or the real birdies themselves might do the trick.
But now as you mentioned it, I surely did not notice that this tutorial was a old one.

I just can't stop feeling sad that there's so many popular wing tutorials leading our fellow artists to a wrong way, and I'm sorry that I expressed myself rather plain and harsh way. u__u I think that it's part of my bitchy nature, but my intention certainly wasn't to hurt anyone.

It's hardly my fault that it's 'opular' (in fact, I don't believe it is. There's probably a very good reason that the one you linked me has 5 times the favourites and comments I have). It's also an aide and I do recommend in the tutorial to study pictures of wings and bird wings. It only briefly discusses anatomy AND states that it's not accurate. (Honestly, look at the language I use - "three 'straight bits' and joints" It's obvious that I don't have an anatomy major.) I just thought it would be helpful for people to get a feel for the flow of feathers and how they're arranged, more than the anatomy specific details of other tutorials. It's a mud map, not an atlas.

Anyway; my problem was not with that you had a problem with the tutorial, I can fully understand your concerns. I had issues with the way that you expressed you had a problem and then didn't tell me what exactly was wrong. I feel that I probably would have responded a lot better to a comment such as the one you just left me, rather than the vague statement. I'm always open for critisism and argument; your points are very valid and well phrased, when you get down and explain them.

actually, the "finger" bones do add structure to the wing of the animal, they don't just sit there with no purpose. XD! sorry, my OCD perfectionist side just came out there, I probably sounded a little snarky.
But anyway, I love how you gave the different wing positions a run-through, that seems to be what I have the most trouble with. Thanks you...

It's okay, i didn't actually know that. o.O I'd go back and fix the tute to add that in... but if I fixed up that, I'd probably have to fix up all the drawings and spelling errors also.

...And I'm very lazy.
