Heya! *looks and nods* yupyup. So now we can draw wings. But what about individual feathers? I mean, anything with wings, human or bird, is going to shed like crazy (trust me. I've had cockatiels), soooo... any tips for drawing those individual fallen feathers? Hmm... they sort of turned out like leaves for me. >< It's different when they're in the wing. Cya round,

The Mad Tortoise.

Thanks! I needed a wing tut. This one looks good to me I don't know what the other people are talking about. Maybe you could add how to make wings that are going straight up like in Dogma when the angels were leaning over with their wings in the air because that would also be helpful.

Heh, I remember how difficult it was for me to first draw wings. Of course, I learned the 'arm/hand' structure thing for bats, but also for birds (by watching my stepmom's bird flutter around in her cage for an hour @@;. I remember studying lots of wing pictures too...there's so many different types of feathers it'd drive you crazy. Short ones, long ones, fat ones, thin ones, all having to be placed at certain areas...but that's for the REALLY detailed ones Cartoony, well, I suppose it doesn't have to be as accurate.

Nevertheless, that indent fold, I always try to be conscious of where it is. Even though it causes me WAY too much trouble some days @_@;; Oh well. I've absorbed everything you've said HERE now (mostly about how to shade the feathers and texture them) so hopefully it'll worm its way into my work with wings next time. Thanks ^~

Thank you so much! *glomps* I've drawn wings in the past, and I've gotten better at them lately, but this pointed out what I was having trouble with. Kept looking at my stuff and going, "that's not quite right..."

This should make things a lot easier! *beams, and hugs again*

Lizeth In reply to AikoNamika [2005-02-03 23:27:17 +0000 UTC]

^_^ I hope it does help, 'cause I've been looking at other people's pics of wings and some of them pull it off quite nicely using other methods. Meh.

*_* Wings... pretty wings... have to try to draw them... *has a thing for drawing wings, even though she really can't draw anything*

(This has nothing to do with the subject, really, but... how do you scan your drawings? Every time I scan something all the lines get kind of messed up, no matter what I do... *sigh* There's always a lot 'cleaning' to be done before I can post those pics anywhere, and it is... should I say annoying.)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lizeth In reply to Tuulikki [2005-02-03 23:32:29 +0000 UTC]

**waves** Hey, how's life?

I have a thing for wings too. =^_^=

Uh... I scan using photoshop and a Lexmark x83 Printer/scanner/copier.
Could it be your scanner that's the problem? I find different scanners give different results. Uh... **takes a peek at your gallery** They all look pretty good to me... Did you "clean them up"?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tuulikki In reply to Lizeth [2005-02-04 18:30:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... I'm afraid it is the scanner... stupid thing. *pokes it* ...Photoshop... that's just a fancy word for me that I see used a lot in this place. ^^ (And yes, I did "clean up" the pics in my gallery...)

Life is... Busy. With a capital B. Certain scary things like Master's Thesis are trying to invade it... x.x

(Btw... I'm still writing that Seto/Atemu friendship fic from ages ago... though that plot bunny really has mutated a couple of times during this time. I swear, I've never spent this much time on a one-shot... It's all Seto's fault. He's not cooperative at all.)

Lizeth In reply to Tuulikki [2005-02-04 19:01:50 +0000 UTC]

O_o Master's Thesis...

Really really? Seto/Atemu friendship?! **pounce** WHERE?!
Yeah, Seto's kinda strange. ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Tuulikki In reply to Lizeth [2005-02-04 21:20:29 +0000 UTC]

Don't get too excited... chances are I won't be finishing it this year. At this rate, anyway... -_- (Besides, while Seto is being difficult, Bakura is trying to steal the show. Won't let him.)

...I was going to say something else, but my computer decided to crash three times in a row, and in the midst of all the cursing it slipped my mind... I don't think it was anything important, anyway.

neat way to go about it!

*is guilty of forgetting the fold now and then*

Lizeth In reply to Chys [2005-02-03 23:23:22 +0000 UTC]

That's okay. I've seen some very nice wings that forget the fold and still make it work somehow. O_o This is just my way.
