For your question, pretty much?? Like, D&D's a lil funky about it because they ALSO have cambions, which they separate from tieflings. Tieflings are described as "half demon, half human" BUT their lore is actually that their ancestors made a pact (or shook the bed) with a fiend or demon and that fiendish blood just shows up from then on in any descendants (tieflings will always birth more tieflings). Some people just roll with the "one of my parents was a demon" idea, though, which I think might've been the way it was up until tieflings were revamped in 4th edition to what I just described?? Cambions meanwhile are always the spawn of a human and a fiend. (Funny enough, D&D also differentiates between demons and fiends... xD)

Oh ok I see so that's why the definition of tiefling I found was pretty much my definition of cambion but it's nice to see all the nuances they put in (even if I'm not quite sure to see how a fiend and a demon could be different xD)
