I am so TIRED of this:
“She’s a cool OC, but her outfit is like my OC’s.”
“Her outfit is just like my OC’s!! D:”
“Her hair is like my OC’s, but she’s alright.”
“She looks like my OC
”
So. Flippin’. Tired of it.
Okay, so maybe I shouldn’t be THIS bothered by it, but I’ve been seeing it happen over and over again. It’s really becoming a pet peeve for me—especially since it’s been reoccurring. No, I’m not going to mention usernames, that’s fairly rude and opens them up for trolls. That would just be spiteful xP
It urks me the most, however, when someone makes a new OC and is hoping for some critique because it’s their first time… and they get one of the above quotes instead.
Way to give them a confidence booster
People. Seriously. Just because the outfit of another OC looks SOMEHOW in SOMEWAY similar to yours, does NOT mean they took it from you.
Stop. Being. Paranoid.
Literally, I have seen people comment on any other DGM OC going, “Oh, that top looks like my OC’s design”; or “Oh, those shorts are like my OC’s!”.
Shorts are shorts. There aren’t exactly a gazillion types of shorts to choose from. It’s only natural for them to look similar to other shorts. Same with tops. There's only so much you can do with customizing a DGM uniform and keep it within the ability to be fought in.
Heck, look at my OC, Kira. She wears shorts. I can name three other DGM OC’s that wear shorts and were created after her.
Do you see me going to their OC art and saying that crap?
NO. Because, believe it or not, that person had a similar idea without knowing of Kira beforehand. They didn’t need to look at Kira and go “Oh, I like her shorts—I’ll copy them~~!!1!”. Heck, even if they did, I wouldn’t be too bothered with it.
They are shorts. No big deal.
Now if the entire outfit looks EXACTLY and I mean EXACTLY the same, then maybe there's a problem-- but that's not what's the problem here xP
So, all in all, yes, this is a rant.
I’m not saying this to everyone, ‘kay? An innocent “What d’ya know, she kinda looks like my OC xD Nice job though, and I really love the pose you made and the expression you used!”
That’s not shoving copyright or “you stolez from meee!1!!” in their face. That’s just joking around and giving a critique (GOD FORBID!) to that person's DGM OC.
And I can understand that.
Just please, please don’t start that “She looks like my OC! Her outfit is just like mine!” stuff… please? It really makes me want to comment and go lawyer mode, and I don’t like doing that, ‘cause I don’t like to sound rude :/ Even though I guess this could sound rude as well >.>”Okay, well, I’ll end the rant here~

Yeah, it was quite an awful thing. I just wish the creator of that OC came to speak to me herself instead of getting her white-knighting friends to vouch for her without even seeing my side of things.
And then they had the audacity to say I caused the DARama and made nasty comments behind my back (which I saw of course) and make journals about it. She went as far as calling me things like "dipshit" and stuff.
It was pretty bad -_-" I'm just glad it's over.

Ikr? I've been told that math and in general subjects we study today is much harder than back then. In the past, they taught it harsher, but now the material covered is just... ugh.
The textbooks are increasingly heavy with each passing year. It's sad really I mean, my Biology and Chemistry textbooks... *shudders*
I also hate it when textbooks hold two years worth of stuff in it, 'cause your basically lugging around Grade 11 & 12 textbook material around that you don't need in that year. It's a sad life

I've had this happen a few times for me as well. I try to make unique outfits, but apparently, no matter how unique, there will ALWAYS be someone commenting how one of my oc's either look like theirs or has a similar outfit (I got into a lot of crap over one of my Oc's a while back becouse some jerkoff said I stole the design. Take a guess who had their picture up first. If you guessed me, you are right. DA still made me take it down, however. I redesigned them later with a better, more detailed, design tho)

yea this is true, but remember SOME clothing designs are very uniquely made by a certain artist. (for instance a couple of mine). i have never had someone say anything like that to me, but it is true that people cant copywrite shorts, jackets, and hairstyles. but if someone had an OC with the EXACT clothes as the charries from my book i would know they stole it because i personally designed them myself (unless the character was something like a fire fighter since i sorta designed their clothes after them). but i agree about the hairstyle, shirts and other accessories. for instance most of my OCs clothes and gear are clothes i own and wear IRL, or just clothes that ravers wear...and i bet im not the only one who does that too. the people who keep saying that to you and others dont stop to think "hey, maybe that top is like my OCs because they actually OWN the same top!" its rediculous...

So true, months ago a girl was telling me my oc had the same hairstyle and coat as her character's. And this was a on a SKETCH of my char no less, not even colored (and I was not going to color them the same). She was trying to claim that the hairstyle and top were copyrighted to her.. dumbarse =/ though I did change the top to get her to stfu, but she still whined about me keeping the hairstyle.

I hate seeing oc's with.. way too much clothing on to try and be more original when it makes them look like a mess. Theirs only a certain limitation to simple clothes rather than throwing on shorts and a t shirt and calling it an oc.

shows like dgm wear uniforms, so it doesn't matter, its not like the Order have a few options on the cloths.
there's no helping to ocs looking like other people's oc or even canon, kind of hard to make a difference
some cloths are ment to help the character like Kira, her innocence is skin(is that right?), if she wears long pants and sleeves, idk what will happen(if this is unrelated, then please forgive me)

My OC was recently stepped on by a girl saying,"pft. My character acts the same way and wears the same kind of stuff and has the same name as yours except I had her years before you ever did." Then she goes on telling me about her character and how her background is more well rounded and awesome (all ths time on my art that I worked hard on for my OC)
