Whoa! At first glance, I thought this was Rover with the kid versions of his mom and dad...in 1875...
Clancy seems a lot shorter than Rover in comparison with Danny. Plus, his sideburns would put Rover's to shame!

Ha Ha! It's an understandable mistake as they all are related.
He is by a good measure. He's about 5'5 whereas Rover's just under a foot taller. Rover did NOT get his height from this part of the family.

Oh wow... I love the way you really did get this to look like an old photograph! It's strange to think of Rover's ancestors back this far, in a way, since his story is set in a time (I presume) still pretty far in the future from our world now... but then again, it's not so strange. We all came from somewhere, all the way back through time to Adam and Eve, let alone the 1800's. Looks like the curly hair and big nose and grin Rover inherited have been around for quite a long time!

It is! He favors this ancestor in looks as well as personality. Although this guy has got a hotter temper than Rover. He is certainly not as big as Rover.
No this isn't Rover's mom. But Abigail becomes a family name. Danny does indeed look like Tom. This is where the family converges.

While he certainly is perfectly capable of getting in trouble and has an element of that over eagerness, he is more cautious than Rover. Mostly because he has kids. Oh, he is ridiculously protective of these two little ones. All he wants is to give them a good life.

Especially such a sweet tiny thing as Abigail inspires a protective nature. He has been a farmer but times have been tough. So he's having to get creative.

I could see Tom digging through stuff years after they were married, finding Abigail's picture, and saying something like, "That's funny. I thought my sister had this," then Abbigail telling him, "That's mine."

The funny part is that my mom's side of the family had some intermarriage with cousins, so we blame inbreeding if our aunts or uncles on that side act weird.
