Description Considered vermin by most spacefarers, lysk are a somewhat parasitic species, living in the conduits and crawlspaces of ships, usually near the engines, as their primary food source is stolen energy.  Their bill is an electrical powerhouse and getting bitten by one can give you a nasty shock.  Just picking up an angry liske can make your hair stand on end.  Despite most spacer's assertions that they are only pests to be thrown out the nearest airlock, they are sentient, but as they are usually chased and hunted they do not usually interact with other species.

Some acquaintences and I once, a while back, had a table top space age adventure campaign. A few months in we ran into what most of us dubbed the electro-dog. I think the GM called it an ilekcanin. Neither here nor there, just another space-dwelling animal to spark up your life. Yours is adorable! He looks kind of like a green platypus.

the feeding&shocking  part makes sense...it reminds me of a platypus  (with an aardvarkish tail)

quite the nice critter.

The energy they eat is stored in their bodies.  The basic look of them was inspired by platypus.  But they stand and move more like a bunny.

That's cool. Did you call him  the Ratypus?

Lol! He is a bit of a cross between a platypus and a possum. He's also got some kangaroo in those massive feet of his.
He's actually a liske.

Try a simple box and stick trap with a few batteries as bait.

Thank!  They are pretty high on the cuteness scale, although most spacefarers would disagree.   Those big fee can sense vibrations in a ship's engine.  They can feel when there's something wrong with a ship far before the crew.

Yes, they're quite the innocent-looking fellows x3 Oh, wow o.o They seem pretty useful, but they sound dangerous to hang around with :/

chill13 In reply to LabelPerginu [2014-01-10 02:49:05 +0000 UTC]

If they like you they can be quite useful.  Not dangerous in general.  But depending on how charged they are they can be trouble around certain electronics and power sources.

Oh. My god. Who could ever throw one of those little guys out of an airlock? Something tells me not the crew of the Old Bessy

These lil' guys look so squeezable!!!

chill13 In reply to JaggidArt [2014-01-07 16:21:53 +0000 UTC]

Someone who thinks they're a danger to his ship.  If there are large numbers of them the static electricity they create can effect ship's systems.           But you would be right

They have a fairly high body temperature so it would be like holding a fuzzy hot water bottle that makes your fingers tingle.

JaggidArt In reply to chill13 [2014-01-08 06:28:18 +0000 UTC]

So they are a bit like electric blankets? Sounds handy in the cold vacuum of space

And who knows, the little guys might provide enough static charge to reboot a system or two. (Got ma nerd on today!)

chill13 In reply to JaggidArt [2014-01-08 16:28:24 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yes.  They'd come in quite handy if a spacer could get past the whole 'pest' image.

Awesome-looking species! Would they make good pets? >w<

chill13 In reply to LaDeary [2014-01-07 02:24:27 +0000 UTC]

Yes.  They have around a seven-year-old human intelligence.  But they have massive knowledge of electronics.  And if they are not stifled by the fear of getting caught they like to fix things.
