This drawing was quite a challenge. Partly because of the format - it's the biggest I've ever drawn before - and partly because I gave myself a deadline of only a week as I didn't want to go back to spending months on a piece, I ltend to lose interest in it after a while when I do that - but mainly because I haven't actually drawn or painted at all in over a year. This is also the first big cat I've tried my hands on, AND my third pastel ever - my first with chalk pastels! All in all, I'm very happy about the outcome.
It's no masterpiece but it's probably the best drawing I've ever done. I'll most likely update this deviation once I get a better photo of it.(HEY! Can you find my signature? It's 'hidden' somewhere in the painting)

Not... a masterpiece? *stares* I've been practicing with sketching/drawing for a while and if I could draw fur detail even this well I'd be quite happy. Great job w/ chalk pastels though

heh, "the rocks look like fur".. that's a very rough statement but i think she does prove a point there. at some places the rocks have a sort of soft, furry feel to them.. especially down to the left i think the outlines of the rocks could have been a little bit sharper. but hey, that's the only minor flaw if any in this picture.. because this is great, really great. and i mean it!

how can you say that this is no masterpiece?!!! anyway it's absolutely brilliant if you ask me, you managed to make the fur look so soft! so much better than my attempt at drawing a snow leopard [link] , i'll have to try using chalks and pastels soon. ^_^ hehe i found the signature on the wall, that's so cool! the eyes look amazing too.
