Description
Snow leopard20" x 25" / 50 x 65 cm
Chalk pastels
25 hours
This drawing was quite a challenge. Partly because of the format - it's the biggest I've ever drawn before - and partly because I gave myself a deadline of only a week as I didn't want to go back to spending months on a piece, I ltend to lose interest in it after a while when I do that - but mainly because I haven't actually drawn or painted at all in over a year. This is also the first big cat I've tried my hands on, AND my third pastel ever - my first with chalk pastels! All in all, I'm very happy about the outcome.
(HEY! Can you find my signature? It's 'hidden' somewhere in the painting)

Found it, top right, lol.
Lovely drawing, colour and balance is just right. The cat is beautiful and the rock on the left is so full of texture. Well done.

ooooh snow leopards are amazing, and this definitely does them justice.
i love the crispness of the eyes and mouth next to the softly rendered fur.
what kind of paper is this on?

I used velour paper, you know, the almost fabric-like surface? It's awesome to work on, especially when you work large like this.

Very realistic. Even without color there is so much attitude to him. And he looks soooooo soft like my little tiger

Oh my gosh, this is absolutely beautiful. My eyes kind of widened when I saw it. xD I can't believe it was only your third time using pastels.. You are amazing! This looks just like a photograph. I love the eyes and the detail in the rocks... I would lose interest in that so fast.

Absolutely incredible. I first thought this might be a photograph, but taking a closer look, I can now see it is a drawing indeed. Simply WOW.
I too lose interest in a lot of my works that take over a week to complete, but I don't think I've ever drawn or painted anything this good in the span of a single month, not to mention a week. Amazing.

I really like this one too. I've never been able to color snow leopards correctly. It looks very real and proportionate, like the wolf one and all of your other drawings.
