You’re Welcome! People are already starting to refer to her as “Bismuth”, but I don’t think anything has been actually stated or confirmed yet.

I was gonna put this into an idea that there was a virus that made gems go savage. Since they don't create antibodies, there is no cure.

Chisai-Yokai In reply to FelisLupus [2016-06-30 15:46:12 +0000 UTC]

That is interesting ^^

Though being rock humanoids who don't have immune systems like humans I'm not sure that they could even get a virus.
In the world of sci-fi and fantasy though anything is possible. ^^

FelisLupus In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-07-01 02:16:03 +0000 UTC]

Viruses aren't living either, right? Therefore bacterial infections have almost no affect on them. But since they don't have an immune system, there is no barrier thus making easier for a virus to take them over.

I think this gem is an actual rainbow quartz soilder.

Home world is against the fusion of gems that aren't the same type. If rainbow quartz is only created by fusing pearls and rose quartz that theory would not make sense.

I don't see why I would kill you over thinking that.
I mean, you're probably right, but it's still fun for people to come up with theories.

Her eyes were completely white and had a cat like shape, and had a lion like mane...and even looked more like a...african kind of hair style? sorry if that sounds offensive, I just don't know how to explain it....Lion, is dat u? o:

were the theories true

Chisai-Yokai In reply to JellyHorsie [2016-06-01 02:35:42 +0000 UTC]

Her hair looked like dreads to me, which is not a purely African hairstyle. No worries, I don't think you're being offensive. ^^
That is an interesting theory though I am no too sure on its legitimacy ^^

Either an Agate or a Quartz but some say Bismuth. I think she's boulder Opal.

Chisai-Yokai In reply to WeirdStashGangstaCat [2016-05-21 18:59:24 +0000 UTC]

Agate is a quartz ^^ and it would make sense too considering quartz gems are warriors. ^^
Bismuth is colorful like the gems hair but that is all we have to go on for that.
Two gems have to fuse to make regular opal, that leads me to believe that it's unlikely that the mystery gem is boulder opal considering home world is against fusion.
Anything is possible though ^^

Wyvern0125 [2016-05-21 06:22:39 +0000 UTC]

My guess is she’s an Agate.

She looks like she could be a Quartz (Agate is a type of quartz). She’s big and muscular with long hair. Quartzes are warrior class Gems, and we saw her attack Lapis. Also, Agate comes in a variety of colors (like her hair): www.google.ca/search?q=agate&s…

Chisai-Yokai In reply to Wyvern0125 [2016-05-21 16:29:22 +0000 UTC]

That's a really good theory. I've only been seeing people talk about her being Bismuth but based on Agate being a quartz and with the color I think that is maybe even more plausible! Plus, looking at Agate and the different rings of color, it's kinda like the mystery gems hair, not only in color, bit in how the color is in stripes.

Wyvern0125 In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-05-22 10:22:14 +0000 UTC]

Bismuth is an interesting possibility, but Agate was the first thing that came to my mind when I first saw her. Mainly because of the multicolored hair. And the more I thought about it the more I realized it actually made sense and might be true.

Chisai-Yokai In reply to Wyvern0125 [2016-05-22 16:57:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree, Agate makes a lot more sense than Bismuth. Bismuth seems like they would be more important than just being a warrior like Jaspers or Amethysts.

SONBoomer In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-05-25 02:50:20 +0000 UTC]

Bismuth is a metal, not a gemstone. It can form into crystalline structures, but it isn't a gem.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Chisai-Yokai In reply to SONBoomer [2016-05-25 03:08:34 +0000 UTC]

Bismuth is metallic in luster but is still categorized as a type of rock. Info on Bismuth

Though Bismuth may be in a sort of grey area I think it could definitely still count in the would of Steven Universe as a "gem".
There is also the fact that there is a gem bubbled in Lions mane that looks very similar to Bismuth. Screenshot from episode VS photo of Bismuth

So I think the possibility is definitely there for Bismuth to be part of Steven Universe. At this point I believe the mystery gem is more likely to be Agate though.

SONBoomer In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-05-25 03:26:48 +0000 UTC]

It is defined as a post-transition metal, and as such, it's between metals and nonmetals. The reason it is so colorful is because of the oxides which appear on its surface during it's crystalline formation. The the crystal in Lion's mane is most definitely a bismuth formation. As real-life bismuth crystals are most often artificial, it could be that, IF the mystery gem we saw onscreen was a Bismuth, it could be some sort of gem experiment - prior to the fusion experiments, perhaps created as an offensive weapon against the rebellion.
I've never heard anyone refer to bismuth crystals as gems, and all of them gems in the show are shown to have their gems in a clean, polished form, as opposed to the stone-like, raw mineral form they could be found - and only Bismuthinite, one the ores bismuth can be refined from, is classified as a type of rock. Bismuth itself is classified as a post-transition metal, and it's crystalline form is "merely" a crystal.

Chisai-Yokai In reply to SONBoomer [2016-05-25 03:33:59 +0000 UTC]

I like the idea that it could be some sort of gem experiment. Perhaps it was part of why Rose rebelled aside from wanting to protect the earth. Perhaps that is why she bubbled Bismuth as perhaps it is the first form of gem experimentation before they started working with gem shards and clusters.
Right now I believe the mystery gem is more likely to be Agate, not Bismuth. But yes, as you said, the thing bubbled definitely appears to be a bismuth formation. Therefore it could classify as a "Gem" (As in the alien species and not the formations on our planet) in the universe of Steven Universe.

Alright then.

Wyvern0125 In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-05-23 08:08:04 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. It seems that a Gem’s class and occupation may be based on its physical attributes. Quartzes are hard and durable so it makes sense that they’re soldiers. Besides, Bismuth is more metallic-like anyways.

I am going to refer you to this Comment  I just replied to someone else with haha ^^

But yes I agree that the gems real life structure and attributes are involved with the categorization when it comes to occupation. ^^

Wyvern0125 In reply to Chisai-Yokai [2016-05-27 08:06:24 +0000 UTC]

I totally agree with the theory that Bismuth may be some sort of artificial gem experiment. Perhaps an attempt at creating a gem that’s part machine or something? Kind of similar to what a lot of fans thought Peridot originally was? Or something to do with the gem fusion experiments and the cluster? And the possibility that Bismuth may be the gem bubbled in Lion’s mane. It’s interesting how in Steven Universe, the more answers we get the more questions we have.

Yeah, their class and occupation are based on their physically qualities, while they personalities are based on their symbolism in human culture.
