Description
I think this is a picture that is much deserved - but long overdue, and just one in a line of projects I've promised people! The reference was from a good friend, Leonie - or ~LeChan as some of you know her ...
Hope she likes it, shes been eager to see it since I started
I'm pretty much happy with how this turned out but once again, my scanner doesn't fail to dissapoint me ... take my word for it the actual drawing looks 100 times better
I had an idea however ... taking into account that traditional cameras recept light in the exact same way the human eye does maybe I should try taking a shot with one of those, instead of getting the grainy look a scanner (or worse a digital camera) gives. Should work!
Thanks for the reference Le, here is what I made of it!
It was done with H-7B pencils in about 3 hours, with reference to photo - better ask if you want to see it ok.
Comments,
***EDIT***
I was really proud of this on paper as I mentioned but I just could'nt come to terms with the scan - to me it look nowhere near as good, and I was a bit down about the fact I just could not get it to look right. I've uploaded a better version ... *note the better* still no where as good as the real thing but it's as good as it can be I think.

Ahh I'm glad you like it in the end, I've kinda been stressing because I just wasn't happy with it, and have re-uploaded it about 4 times (seriously) to get it looking as good as the original pencil drawing ... it's still not but if you like it - then so do I
I will continue to get a better scan of the image ... there must be a better way - so thanks for liking it so much in the meantime, it makes me happy that you think the hard work payed off

it did, I think it really looks great And I know most drawings are much better-looking on paper then whenever it's scanned in
don't worry!

This is not bad. You did a pretty good job on the shading here, although it could have been better to show more contrast and depth. However, I do have to say that the eyes are perhaps the best part of this piece.

This is really nicely done. Everything is in place and the surface is really smooth, thats quite hard to pull off ^^

Th eyes really stand out here, and the lines are very clean. My only suggestion would be a little more contrast.

Aww, very pretty.
They say eyes are the window to ones soul; hers are very noticable, very powerful.
Bravo.

Nice smooth shading, you just need to darken the dark areas a bit (or is it the scan?) and give it a bit more contrast, or else it looks a little flat

Well I think it comes down to what I prefer - on paper the contrasts were fine (with the assumption it is viewed with natural light) but the scan really takes away the dynamics of the toens and yeah - looks a bit flat. Ohwell I guess pencil wasnt meant to be scanned
Thanks for your praise however - I appreciate it

I was at school when I first saw it so I wasn't able to comment but now I am
I love the shading and the eyes you always make your deviations come alive

That's ok by me!
Thanks for commenting - I like to put extra detail in the eyes because as you may know the human mind recognizes faces by the eyes first, so that's ofcourse the first place you look!
I'd like to hope my drawings looks alive ... maybe not on computer but atleast on paper anyways
btw sorry my msn doesnt seem to be working
