Description
This was commissioned last year by my Pastor's wife for their son's birthday, but I've only gotten around to posting it on the site now. She wanted something on which they could play "Pin the light saber on Darth Vader," but it was also to be an image that would be poster-quality (and worth putting up in his room) after the party was over. (Funny story: Fedex refused to allow me a print MY art because it featured a copyrighted character.)I went into this not completely familiar with Vader's design, because I never followed the Star Wars series as avidly as some friends of mine had. (I've always been more toward the fantasy half of the fantasy/sci-fi fandom.) Futuristic art is not something I normally feel very confident with, but I quickly realized that there was something classic, almost even medieval, about his design, between his helm, cape and robes.
Suffice to say, I think I enjoyed working on this far more than I thought I would.
... Also, according to ~Danny-Paint , this is a romantic picture of Vader, 'cause he's on a beach.

I love this because it blends stars, beach and Star Wars. One of the most awesome places to view a breathtaking display of stars is on a non commercial beach like the one in Ocracoke...and this is what the stars look like. This is beautiful!
