O, the blood of Jesus,
That washes white as snow.
...I think I was kneeling, because sometimes in deep prayer, the world begins to feel just a little heavy, and I feel I need to rest. Or maybe old habits die hard, and I still have a bit of Catholic in me. Or maybe it's just something about God that...brings a person to her knees.
Whatever it was, it was between something in my heart and something in the words of that song that did it. And then I had this image in my head, and this is what resulted. For the rest of Sunday night, I could not shake this mental picture of a blood that was only barely red, moreso white -- a blinding, clensing white. A blood of such intensity, such light, it would bleach anyone it touched. I had the image of a person showered in such light... Reaching, ready. Renewed.
The picture in my mind was much more basic than this. It was simple, without perspective, and thicker lines. But you know how I get carried away...
I designed her in my likeness. I'm not exactly sure why except that "just anybody" would have taken meaning from this, for me. I suppose that makes it a personal piece.
Wouldn't you reach, too?

Hey - I've never been Catholic and I love praying on my knees. Or face down on the ground. When I really have that awareness of utter dependence or total awe or just how unworthy I am... it just happens.

I think this may be the single best thing I have yet found in the Christians group gallery. Everything is simply perfect and beautiful. The light, for instance, on Christ's feet and the girl's arm and face really draws attention to the light and beauty of redemption, of forgiveness. Your comments on blood - cleansing white, barely red - seem so perfect, so .... they make Scripture about the cleansing that comes by Jesus' blood easier to understand and visualize, and it's really beautiful.

oh, VBS Bible camp, during the summer, out around Van Buren, MO somewhere, don't remember the name of it, exactly, but i went there from 10-13 yrs old, then by 14 I got to be too old to attend, lol.
