Description
A cross-over work for #TwistedFates-series ' Warrior of the Pure Aura contest! The hand marking, circles below the eyes, and the ring are a part of the "Pure Aura" manifestation, and do not canonically belong to this character. Then it hit me. Though I haven't drawn Osiris yet, though he plays a pretty integral role in the first three stories! Of course, Osiris is one of my characters who is based on the Egyptian deity of the same name. In Sanagis, however, he is a great mage of the earth and sun, the overseeing mage during Sakhati's reign, and one of the more compassionate mages in the council, who feels a personal duty to protect his land and takes that duty to the extreme. Like his brother, Set, he tends to bend (*ahem* outright break) the rules put into place by and for the Great Magi. Whereas Set does this maliciously and selfishly, however, Osiris does this because he knows Set's true intentions and he knows it is the only way to keep his brother's plans at bay. Naturally, Set does not like this too much...
So I figured an earth/solar mage would be the best choice among my characters for this contest. One of the interesting parts of the contest's storyline is that the aura the warrior possesses is capable of altering the world's elements (Referenced here ) I imagined that would affect Osiris' magic, too, so now when he conjures fire, it is blue fire! (Not the kind that melts red ice, but that would be cool too.
Anyway, entering this also means I have to retroactively make a character for "file one," who I haven't quite decided on -- but I'm thinking either Corixa or Set, himself. (Both have conflicted with Osiris at some point.) I have until round 3 starts to get it done, though, so I won't be so rushed on that one! (Really, I would have loved to have spent more time on it, but my body is tired and the deadline is in 2 hours.
... Funny thing. I started a different picture prior to this one, and then realized it was terrible for actually showing the elements this contest required. So I'll have another picture of Osiris up shortly, and that one will just be him, without the cross-over references.

Your work is amazing. Reminds me of why I love ancient Egypt so much.

Green nipples!
I felt like I owed myself at least one generally shirtless guy. I'm not much of an oogler, but I definitely need more practice at male structure. (and nipples!)
Thank you so much! This was mostly to practice lighting, too. I've been neglecting dramatic lighting for a long time, and it's what can really force an artist to think about the source. He was a lot of fun.

OH SAME HERE
I think for one of my character's designs it makes more sense for him to be shirtless, since he has snakey/dragony things coming out of his back, but... I have a slight phobia of drawing shirtless men, I guess. Like... omg!! Now it looks like I'm obsessed with nekkid men!! But I am not! *shot* I'll... just have to make the nekkidness tasteful. Yes. tasteful is the right word for it all...
Dramatic lighting makes everything better

lol, makes me think -- maybe Dramatic light will transform any questionable piece into "Oh yeah, that's totally art."
I think artists just have that dilemma by default. We have to practice anatomy, and that means drawing unclothed before we draw clothing on it. (So everyone thinks we're that kind of artist!) I've known artists who just refused to draw people because of this.

INDEED
Dramatic light turns heads. Mmmhmmmm.
Yeeep :'p At least with drawing animals, they're supposedto be naked. Drawing people... well... the nudes are kept in my sketchbook, not on dA |D But then it's not the best idea to show my sketchbook to non-art inclined people, since they all go "OMFG BUTTOCKS WHAT ARE YOU DOING."

Oh, goodness, yes. In a similar vein, in High School, I had a sketchbook as part of a class assignment. We'd sometimes get these weird assignments, like personal portraits with some kind of twist or something. I drew myself as a vampire, once, and later on, everyone who looked at my sketchbook thought that I "thought of myself that way." >< One person even said, "I don't know, you really made me think, maybe things aren't as normal as they look?" ... Oh goodness. It was an assignment! Bhahah.

I KNOWWW
Got to be very careful how ya portray yourself in art... but you're suppose to be more carefree in your sketchbook... but I have to hand in a sketchbook as a part of my admissions portfolio :'p Ah well, those art evaluators should be more understanding of nudes and gore and all that good stuff.

Thank you!! And yes -- his hand! I freak out when I get to hands. especially when they involve foreshortening and hiding fingers. Was so worried that I'd just make him look like he got his fingers cut off rather than just curling them in, but I'm glad the point got across! XD

It's a dangerous endeavor, putting time into male characters. I've known people to fall for their own characters doing that.

I think I've even seen a stamp about it. "I wish I could marry my OC" or something funny. It's pretty crazy how far some can take it.

oh my owo;;;; well then they have toooo much free time to be doing something like that owo such as obsessing over their oc....they could take the time and go get a real boyfirend instead of this imaginary one XDDD

It's the "my standards are so high i need an imaginary guy just to keep me happy" mentality.
I can see how people fall into it, but it can only go so far before people will disappoint themselves with the realization that it will never be real.
I'm very lucky -- I have a boyfriend who's better than any character I could write. I think that's why I don't draw males much, I have the real thing, lol.

oh dear lord owo;;; and the imaginary ones aren't gonna do anything for ya in the real world hun XDDD thats is concerning to hear about with people like that owo;;;
yup reality is harsh and we must learn from it =w= though some people do have a hard time to realize it and choose to ignore it =w=
lol thats awesome....agh speaking of boyfriends mine is probably wondering where i hae been for these past weeks owo;;;;; i my self am lucky as well ;A; at least with real boyfriends they hug you back unlike teh imaginary ones
XD personally i find females easier to draw and thats probably why i stick to drawing them more often but hey XDDDD it also helps to try and get in the anatomy practice of drawing males if it is to help your cause in stories ;3

Hah, exactly!
As per art, I like drawing females because it's the whole curve vs straight edge distinction -- I've always been good at drawing curvy things -- plants, dragons, whatever. Females kind of fell into the same thing, with the female form typically curvy and the male form typically more blocky. Curvy is just more comfortable for my hands.
Straight lines, I'm horrible with. (SO thankful for digital art! XD) Same reason I have trouble with swords and armor, sometimes. Any perspective flaw with straight-edged things are much more visible, so it takes more practice to get right. I still love the appearance that more geometric shapes have, when done right. I just have to learn to do them right!

lol same same =w= dem curves give you all the leverage unlike dem straight lines >w>;;; lol cannot draw a well muscular man to save my life XDDD
lol persoanlly i stay far away from armor and swords cause i can't draw those either even though they look so boss *w* ugh must take more time to practice doing such >w>;;;mhm they give it that sort of edge you can't find anywhere else

The funny thing with me is that I don't like, drool over muscles like some girls do, so it's not something I'm immediately drawn to paying attention to. Even with Osiris, I hope to give him some tone but I don't wanna go like, superhero overboard.
I agree, regular nice clothing is nice to draw. I think I just have this artistically masochistic tendency to draw the things that give me the most trouble. XD

Well, from what I understand, I think the visual category is about how good the piece is compared to other recent submissions in their own gallery, more than a comparison of artists' base skill levels.
