...I actually hadn't noticed! lol You've solved one of my DA mysteries.
Anyways, no worries, I'm glad I didn't know about the pre-09 rule as now I think about it (an extreme example) it's almost like saying "Mona Lisa isn't contemporary, why is it still getting so much attention?!"
Not that I'd want my old pieces to be featured, but this artist has always had a good level of skill, so figured it'd be ok

when i first looked at it, was like "where in the hell did these skills come from"
but i remembered that all of your stuff is totally badass, you just ARE NEVER AROUND! this is an excellent piece of fantasy illustration top to bottom. i think its totally great. you nailed everything.
