FIRST IMPRESSIONS: they are dumb except for the frog.But, the fox thing has grown on me after painting it. I still like the frog best, I will have one and his name will be farts.
I dunno what's up with the weird beaver, this'll be the only grass starter I dont like. :l

I know, right? That grass starter is just STUPID... I like most Grass Starters, but this one has made it like...I hate that stupid beaver.

maybe not! I believe they announced they were doing the whole counter triangle thing for the starter types so that none of them are disadvantaged against each other in terms of typing. Like 3rd stage fennekin is fire/psychic to deal with 3rd stage frog who is water/fighting so he can deal with grass/dark 3rd stage beaver. Not sure if that's actually happening but it's a good idea!

I'd love if that's true. I'm so tired of Fire Fighting, and since Fennekin does learn psybeam, maybe they're right...!

I actually had the opposite opinion as you when I first heard of them; Chespin was downright cute, Fennekin was cool, I guessed, but Froakie looked pretty dumb to me. But he's warming up to me. Besides, he makes a nice gijinka.

haha only a few liked kroakie but i prefer him over any frog pokemon anyday (in level with toxicroak he's actually nice)

I actually like them all a lot. Massive improvement on 5th Gen. Not sure what the grass one is meant to be, though... its Japanese name is Harimarron, hari coming from "harinezumi" meaning "hedgehog" and "marron" being French for "chestnut"... so... it's some kind of... hedgehog... chestnut hybrid?

Yeah he's a little odd. I guess I cant really blame them for wanting to stray away from the amphibian/reptilian theme a lot of the other grass starters followed, but I can't seem to like him no matter how hard I try lol. I think it's because he just looks so overly excited.

Yeah I might end up picking one up myself if this game is really good. But right now the full 3d is throwing me off, I like my sprite based pokemon games. :l

Wow, I'm glad I wasn't the only one not blown away (like most people) with these starters. They just don't much excite me and seem to lack the imagination of the previous generations. I wouldn't call them dumb, just uninspired in their designs. (Froggy actually bugs me the most in design. I like the fox one the best. Can't remember their names right now for nothing, at least not correctly spelt in any case. Otter one is just weird, like it's wearing a funny green hat made from leaves.)
Then again, like I said on memebase, I have never gotten the chance to play any Pokemon game, so my opinion on them doesn't really matter anyway.

Yeah I felt sort of the same way about the 5th gen starters at first too though, but I ended up liking them and their evo lines for the most part. Very interested to see what these things turn into though, I guess I'll reserve a final judgement until they are released.
