This included a "T" at the top of the instruments neck. This piece took a total of 64 cuts for everything to fit. The neck is Claro Walnut with a fancy maple fret board mounted on top. The soundboard is Sitka Spruce from Alaska, and the bottom is featured North American Black Walnut and the back is fancy book-matched Claro Walnut. The dowels are Mahogany and fret board inlay is epoxy infused maple. 3 months to make.

I would image working with wood is perhaps at times frustrating but soothing?

One thing my Pops taught me is to never get mad when making something, it does more harm than good It is relaxing and soothing and yes, somewhat frustrating when I try to speed up a project and make a mistake. Each one of these dulcimers has sounded different, and yet have the same tone in a way. They take about three weeks to make because of the finish applied needs to cure before I give it up.
We have been making "Mountain Man" crafts for sale at the crafts fairs this coming up in the spring season. Things like fire kits and canvas bags, and leather goods authentic to the period around 1820-1835 on the American/Canadian frontiers. I do love wood best as far as crafting goes.
