Description
Inspired by a local Landmark, the Giants ring [link] a Henge type monument on the outskirts of Belfast. Kind of like if the Celts decided that stonehenge was pansy and wanted to build their own but got drunk after 5 stones. Anyway, the name "Giants ring" got me thinking of another sci-fi movie/series i quite enjoy, so i made this.The Stargate model itself was created by LordMillenium on scifi meshes, i re-textured it, broke it then chucked it away in the forest, let it mature for 5000 years then came back to see how it was doing.
Arguably i should have eroded it more but none of the gates in the series seem remotely distressed or moss covered, so i left it be
In Vue 9 and lots of photoshop.

Most of the gates in SG-1 and Atlantis were still actively used so they would be kept clean I suppose, also its quicker and cheaper not adding moss and rust to the set every episode.

Yeah its weird looking at the behind the scenes seeing how floppy and unstable they where. Some sculptor really needs to do a real stone one.

Incredible! Nice attention to details of where shade would and wouldn't be, and perfect background to go along with it. To me, it almost seems to have a mystique feeling....
