Description Hulk's a popular guy. That's ok though because he's so much fun to work on. This is my largest painting to date at 14 by 18 and it took what felt like an eternity to finish. I don't know if I'm just slow or if that's normal for painting. I had fun though and I think it came out pretty well, so I'll take it. Another tremendous learning experience. Every time I'm feeling like I understand this stuff, I'm given a nice slice of humble pie. Mmmm...my favorite! Valuable lessons learned that will hopefully help me next time.

Some oils are very transparent out of the tube. The purple I used for his pants were like that. I had to add white to it just to make it opaque enough to not look terrible. The first pass over on the pants was TERR-I-BLE. A streaky mess. Looks ok now, but I was sweating a bit on those damn pants. I also discovered mars black on this piece. I'd been using ivory black thinking "what's the difference?" There's a difference. Ivory has that transparency thing going on. Mars is a beautiful deep opaque black that looks wonderful and blends like a dream.

This was a great piece to work on.

Really good and you got a little of "Grey Hulk" in there in his left foot.

Sure, why not. Truth be told, I just felt like using blue on his leg there, but I like your story better so we'll go with that. Thank you!

This looks "Incredible". I like how you gave the hulk that texture effect to skin that huge body builders have. Great work.

Thanks. I never really thought of a body builders skin, but it's cool that you see that. I just like doing textures hehe, but I like you're explanation a lot better.

Excellent work with your signature style. My only gripe? I was never fond of the Hitler Youth League Haircuts that people give him these days. The explosion in the back reminds me of the Hildebrants work.

LOL. Yeah, it's a tough look to pull off, but the shaggy look never felt right to me and neither does the buzz cut type of thing.

Thanks

A little Jack Kirby, a little Bruce Timm, and a lot of Alex Ross make this gamma-irradiated awesome.

Very, very sweet--but like Columbo, I must add one more thing: the hair is a little flat. But that's just the a-hole critic in me that keeps me chained to a radiator.

Wow! You've really improved from the other Hulk painting. The other one was good but this has so much more depth and rage (and horror from bruce, lol). I gotta ask tho why his leg is in so desaturated?
