Description
Yep..another Hulk piece. You won't hear me complaining though. He's always a blast to draw. Ben can be tedious with all those damn rocks, but I love the character and the results are always kinda cool, so I'm happy to do another one. This was my attempt at a Bernie Wrightson layout. Everything piled up on the left side and totally vertical. It was a fun piece.Prismacolor/Copic markers with color pencil and watercolor on vellum bristol board.

Damn! I like that cast shadow from Hulk's arm going across Thing's chest.

Nice job here, man. Good rubble, action and shadow work. Reminds one not to get between these two in a tussle.

Yet another *fav!*
You probably go thru a few markers on each one of these, eh, Chris?

Thanks, John. Yeah the Prismas don't last too long. I usually replace one or two every other piece. Certain shades, like 50 that I use the most..I burn through those things quick.

Hulk vs. Thing... never gets old! always awesome
you're the first artist I heard talk about drawing Ben's rocks and it being tedious! thx for that (I always thought I was a wimp for thinking it)

ChristopherStevens In reply to FindingOx [2010-07-02 05:10:00 +0000 UTC]
Yeah they're a pain. Well, painting them anyways. I do a greyscale figure and then go back in and paint all of the rocks. Takes a minute.

man, what the hell? why do I always see the Thing takin it from the Hulk in these battle pics, I mean really, all the way back to Kirby days Ole' Ben has been nuthin but a punchin bag for mr. "Green Genes".
Well, I can't stands it any longer, mark my words...The Thing will have his day if I have anything to say about it!
BTW: another great piece-nuff said.

Hehe, yeah I know what you mean. I love blue eyes too, but well..he's just not in the same power league. He keeps trying though and that's why we love him.

Looks great! I always love seeing these two go at it. Especially in the old days when Ben and Hulk were practically equal in strength. I miss those days when The Thing was a challenge for the Hulk. They look great in your style. Keep up the awesome work!

Yeah, I don't think Ben's been a real problem for Hulk since the early 70's but now that we've got infinite strength Hulk, the good ol' days are gone heh.

Well, technically, it's not color. If you mean render, well it's just a slow process. Start dark and work to light. Thanks!
