Description
Art time!This piece completes a set of 3 that I've been working on. Needless to say, this was quite a fun one to work on, too. It changed significantly since the initial sketch. I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, in the end, but I did have to work through a few roadblocks along the process.
At one time, I drew a face on the person there, but I ended up removing it. The dark cowl gives off more of a sense of mystery, I think.

The figure was much more defined at one point, but I kept adding to the robes... I think the mystery gives this piece a bit more depth.

It was at least partially inspired by the Astronomy project I did a while back, when I was still in school.

What did you have to do for the Astronomy project exactly, if I may ask?

The main focus of the project was image enhancement. Basically, I improved the telescope.
I set up an Adaptive Optics system to correct for some atmospheric effects, then used deconvolution to sharpen the image farther.
It took plenty of nights to make sure things were working, and I had to wait for a good, clear night, to take good data for the deconvolution part of things.

Love how the dragon is touching the pool/surface there, like their mapping out the stars, or it's just curious. Nice detail there. Cool piece!
