Art time!This piece completes a set of 3 that I've been working on. Needless to say, this was quite a fun one to work on, too. It changed significantly since the initial sketch. I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, in the end, but I did have to work through a few roadblocks along the process.
At one time, I drew a face on the person there, but I ended up removing it. The dark cowl gives off more of a sense of mystery, I think.

My senior seminar project, back in college, was an Astronomy one. That's part of why I left the books stacked up like that, and snuck that coffee cup on to the back of the table.
It was quite a fun project, but I think it would have been more awesome if I could have studied like that.

I don't know what makes this even more spectacular than it already is.
One, there is a beautiful dragon here. I noticed the person in the cloak and the fancy staff but I still choose the dragon.
The fact it looks like they are in an observatory? An awesome see through fantasmal beyond imagination observatory..with close up views of the galaxies..
and there is a dragon.

A set of three, huh? I suppose the other two are Sojourner and Sovereign? I didn't even realize you were doing them as a set, but now that you point it out it's pretty easy to spot.
Man, I just love your art in this style. XD It's so much fun to look at. I know a few people have already commented on your color scheme, and I just have to agree with them, the way you used your color palate is way neat. And there's so much detail in this piece! So many little interesting things to look at.

Wonderfull artwork! It has so much detail to it and i love the smooth coloring, the gradient of colors adds great deal of depth to this image, and the picture itself has an interesting idea. Great job!

Hey Chromamancer, I remember you and as always it's great to see new work coming from you. You have come such a long way since I first stumbled upon your work, I'm really quite impressed. Your color use is definitely the most prevalent aspect of your work, one that really makes it quite distinct. You're very bold, I like that. The only thing that I keep noticing in your work though that you might want to look out for is the same-ness of the creatures; all of your dragons have roughly the same head- and body type. Not a bad thing per say, but I would personally love to see some variety there

Balancing the color scheme on this piece was rather fun. I wanted to leave it centered around that blue, with some teal and purple hues to give it a bit more depth and life. I'm glad you enjoyed the result, here.
That is a good point about that head and body type.
I'll work on introducing some more variation in there. More variation in my art might make it more fun to work on, too.
I'm going to be trying some speedpaints soon, to try to loosen up a bit, and get a better feel for that painterly style. Perhaps that will be a good time to practice some new things, as well...
