Description
Time for more art! This one took a bit longer than my last few. I remembered to check this one with a few different color profiles before submitting it this time, so hopefully I won't have to make my usual flurry of edits.
I tried to use a softer texture this time around. The glowing scales and colors were especially fun to use.
I've uploaded the line art for coloring here: [link]
Comments and criticism are always welcome!

Welcome ^w^
Did you use an art tablet for character and background or separately with regular drawing material?

It was all done digitally.
I've mostly been using a Modbook for my art lately. [link]
It's basically a tablet version of a Macbook. It means, I can take my computer places, and still work on art.

The detail in this is amazing. It's not overly detailed, but there's just enough to make it beautiful. The random scales give it almost a design and seem to glimmer under the stars. Also, the lack of too much detail shows there must be a deeper meaning to this, which - from what I can tell - is a call and peaceful mood. The dragon itself is a very pretty description of semi-realism, or a happy mix of cartoon/anime-realism which I myself enjoy. The wings, tail and face are my favorites and best points in my opinion.
The only problem I see is anatomy, when it comes to sizing. The hands are well done, but the top half and bottom half are almost from different bodies. His/her legs and tail are large for the size of her wings and upper body, but none-the-less well shaped.
The background looks fairly simple, but is powerful in meaning, as is the star he/she is holding. The rolling blacks and blues add to the calming message I mentioned before, and if it was meant to be peaceful, you've done a very good job.
Overall, this is amazing, and I'm proud to have it featured in my group.

Thank you for the helpful critique.
I'm glad to hear that the mood and setting of this piece are effective.
I made the original sketch for this picture is several parts, so not everything was drawn all at once. It made it easier to move things around and make the pose, but, I think it did make it tougher to keep a consistent look. The feet and tail were laughably small when I first noticed the problem, and since then, I re-proportioned them several times. I think I overcompensated and made them sort of large in the end, but I'm still rather pleased with the final result.
Hopefully, I'll have plenty more to submit to that group for you, too.

Experimenting takes time, but it'll help you be perfect after a while. Or at least close. This one isn't far off in my opinion. It is a very good result, especially for working in bits and pieces.
I look forward to your other submissions.

Indeed. I definitely want to keep pushing myself and improving.
There are still many more techniques out there for me to learn.
It's a fun process.
I didn't see a submission limit on the group page, so I was planning on spreading them out over a few days. That makes things a little less spammy, I think.

I need to work on improving, too. We all do in some way or another.
There isn't a limit, so spam all you want. It's not crazy like my other groups, just steady. xD

Sky based dragon paintings are a common sight, but this one brings out more of their observant side. Also, the anatomy used in this one is far more realistic, the fore claws / hands are a bit to small, but from the face it looks to be a female: please clarify.
The color is fantastic and the detail is superb; that and the back ground too.
This one's scales are good but the details are scattered, giving the painting a more 'there are details, but they aren't the most important thing.'
This is much better than the previous ones I critiqued.
well done.

Thank you.
Both mistakes and successes can be valuable learning tools.
It's good to hear that this piece is an improvement over my previous ones.
In this piece, I tried to position the scales and details in places to add definition to joints, and draw attention to areas, like the face. From my experience, Using the same level of detail throughout a picture can make it look oddly flat.
I don't usually specify a gender, because it is kind of fun watching how people refer to my dragons in their comments. I did think of this one as female when drawing it, though. For instance, I attempted to give it some more delicate features, and a softer appearance than my last one.

Been looking back over your gallery. You've done some really awesome pieces since I was last around to see them. XD
I really like this drawing! It seems very... soft. I love the atmosphere the background adds to the picture (no pun intended). And whatever design you used for the scales is really effective. It does a good job of making the texture of the scales apparent without making the dragon look like an armored tank or something. XD Lovely colors, too.
You did a great job on the lighting in this piece (obviously a focus, with the low light and the bright stardust), though it does seem that some of the shaded parts of the dragon are a bit more lit than they should be. Specifically, the back of the neck looks a bit odd. I guess there's plenty of light coming from the surrounding clouds, though, so who am I to judge?
Your art was already great two years ago, and now it's come even further. Keep up the good work! Hopefully we'll see another new piece from you soon.

Thank you very much for the awesome comment! I'm sorry for the slow reply here, too.
I've been working on a large project, and I fell behind on my messages again.
This piece was rather fun to work on. I tried to put more detail on the scales in areas where I wanted the viewer to focus on, like the face. I'm glad to hear that was effective. I did use a bit of a glow effect on the scales, but I can see what you're talking about with the shading. Thanks for pointing it out.
Every comment like that helps. There are many things that I don't see or notice on my own, so I think this sort of feedback is really helpful for learning and improving my technique.
Now that I have finished the fun pieces of fanart I've been working on, I'm starting on another epic fantasy piece. Hopefully, I'll be able to try out some of the neat new techniques I've seen when working on the Nordgard project.
I'll definitely do my best to continue learning and improving.
