Description It seems I have trouble speedpainting in Photoshop. Mainly because I get distracted, and keep improving a picture until it's no longer a speedpaint.

I spent quite a while fiddling around with the colors and composition on this picture. It looks fairly quick, but I think I must have went through at least three different backgrounds. And at least as many color schemes.

I tried adding buildings, trees, clouds to add a bit more shape to the sky. In the end, I removed all those things, and decided to go for a clear night sky.

As usual, I'll upload minor edits if I decide to improve anything.

Minor edit: slight color change.

Gorgeous as always! The only crit I have is that I feel like the hind leg wouldn't have as much light on it. Other than that, I love the composition, the colors, and especially the little scale details on the dragon. It looks like your humans are improving and next time you sit down to do a speedpaint, set a timer! I think that will be a good exercise for you. Keep up the phenomenal work

Thank you.
I just uploaded a minor edit, toning the lighting down in that area, and with a bit better shading on the person and rock.

Setting a timer will make things interesting, but more than a little difficult. I might try some oekaki speedpaints first, because I'm more familiar with that. I should probably learn to make and use special brushes some time, though. I've heard they're a huge help when making speedpaints.

Wow. I love the details and lighting you did with the night sky. Just beautiful. I wish I could see a sky like that sometime (stuck in the city for the time being).

Glad you didn't add buildings, trees, or anything else. It looks perfect the way it is without any obstructions.

Thank you. Sometimes the simple approach is the best one.
I hope you get to see a sky like that sometime soon, too.

The detail on the dragons thigh is... fabulous. :3
Great job with this. It's all so clean and crisp, and it's apparent you put a lot of thought and time into it. I think the clear night sky works very well as a background, and gives a sense of majesty and wonder to the drawing.

Makes me think of a calendar page. You should put one together.

Thank you.
I'm having a lot of fun with this method of shading.

I've been thinking about making a calendar some time. I might try and put one of those together around Christmas.
Who knows? It might be fun, and maybe some people would enjoy it.

Thank you.
The scales were actually done quite quickly on a layer above the shading, in this picture. I'm rather happy with how they turned out.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy it.
There are a lot of scenes like this with cloudy skies, but a nice, clear sky really is best for astronomy or stargazing.
