Description
Started out as something to work on between my calendar art because even I get bored of just drawing scenery over and over again. So I have been working on and off this for the past couple of weeks so I'm surprised that I'm actually content with what the final result came out like. Not totally as I envisioned but close enough and I've spent enough time on it.Just a long-haired bishie and a lot of pretty purple stuff, mainly the girls will only like it but I'm sure some guys will too
drawn in Photoshop alone, no 3D or photo-manips used, as usual in my character art. My reference was a Ball-Jointed Doll here [link] I'm glad those things are so popular, I'm finding them good reference models and inspire me to make pretty characters...it's win-win 
Also my first semi-realism attempt I feel might be good enough for a print, so why not - it's costing me nothing

I see some amazing characters that look like they should be in a Final Fantasy game, sometimes when I don't feel like drawing fan-art I'll attempt to make one up myself

Thanks, I have draw similar before but only recently have I bene starting to try harder at this kind of stuff, since even I'm not satisfied with a gallery full f just scenery alone

Very, VERY nice job on this piece! The clothes, the necklace, the flowers...all of it are small, but noticable embellishments.(LOL as you can see I love detail)
By the way, I adore your shading on the skin.

If I had hair like that, I would never stop twisting, braiding and yes - chewing on it either 
The birds I'm pretty sure are Cranes, sticking with the Japanese theme here

Thanks! I love this type of hair too, long and wild but with some cute braided bits here and there 
I've never gotten a DD for one of my character illustrations. I doubt this would get one since it's nothing really new or exciting (I see heaps of art like this or better without DD's, though in all fairness - those artists get thousands of faves on everything they submit anyway so they don't really need it

I see o.o But I see lots and lots of DD that are not soooo good as they say. Really lots. And there are a lot of drawing that I think they really have to have a DD becaus ethey're just amazing (like this one )

Well yours are improving too, at least in the accuracy of their facial features etc (which is more important anyway, all the great shading in the world can't mask up bad anatomy - as many of my older peices will prove

Now I hope you don't mind a few anatomy crits, because I think this piece is really beautiful...
Facial features are a bit out of alignment - nose and mouth don't fall in a line, they're a bit over to one side. And I think again there's a little too much distance between the eyes.
The neck is a bit too wide and the muscles you're defining on the neck, (sternocletomastoids) - in life they attach at the inner ends of the clavicles and go up to the skull and then attach right under the ear. They're more tapered at the base and widen as they go up, making a v-shape on the neck.
Your character art is really looking great, each is better than the last - you should be very happy!

Thanks, I can see your'e more of a "green" person anyway, which is almost opposite to purple (and in computer terms - IS opposite to purple 
His face was supposed to be tilted to his right a bit (you can sorta tell with how you can see more of one side of the nose than the other) but others also said the nose and mouth need to be moved to the upper-right a bit. I'll see if I can do that without ruining it

The clothes and the eyes and hair and flowers are awesome. (That's just the summary. I know it's been a while since I've done a good comment, but you should be seeing the impending wall of text from a mile away. 
Being typical me, the first place I look is the eyes. Lovely shape and color! And though the values are applied a little thickly, the highlights and lowlights in the hair are placed really well to show where the light source is. The flower petals are realistic and delicate-looking, which is wonderful. It makes them look more real than some actual fake flowers (hehe, bit of an oxymoron there). I also applaud you on your meticulous work on the clothing design. It's intricate and well-placed to match all those awesome folds that you have. All of these things make it an absolutely beautiful piece.

This picture is so soft... And I really like your use of purple!
But I feel that his mouth is off somehow. And his eyes look sort of blank to me. It's still a great piece of art, though. I admire your attention to detail.

Some have said the mouth needs to be moved or changed too. I'll hopefully see if I can find time to do something about that
