Description These are the alternative colour variations to my first serious attempt at fashion design, my leather jacket that I love already even though it doesn't exist yet Here's the original submission in my main gallery:

Normally when it comes to jackets and other "heavier" clothing I stay away from bright colours in favour of more neutral whites, greys and blacks. But I made an exception this time, the red was chosen to be the showcase one. But I think each has its own redeeming qualities, if I was loaded I'd have one of each made

The white one would look awesome with some tight black leather pants and boots.

Eh, it's just what's there. I avoided blue and certain other colours since they're not really popular in leather clothing

I read that you were looking to have this jacket design made; I ran into Logan Riese who seems to be doing such things. Looks very custom and possibly expensive... but perhaps the link is useful.

Chromattix In reply to 666kai [2013-03-16 11:56:30 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I watched him a while ago But his "basic" work costs more than what a professional company who does this sort of thing quoted me on this same design, so I feel like he is overcharging to be honest

That other place only didn't get my money because they wouldn't send me payment information Too bad for them, I was going to pay e'm decent money to do it (still over 1'000) but they never went through with it. Every other place I've asked has also failed to respond back. So I'm just assuming no-one wants to do it unless I give them my house in return

Thanks for the compliments I don't really know what Microhero's are, though I was kinda hoping to keep this design exclusive to my gallery, at least until something might come of it anyway

Wolvengra In reply to Chromattix [2012-12-06 02:38:01 +0000 UTC]

Other than good exposure for your gallery, that's the only thing I see coming of it. Also this is a microhero, However if you wish I not use your design then I will respect your wishes. [link]

Chromattix In reply to Wolvengra [2012-12-06 05:20:38 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking about the exposure thing for a bit. But I was hoping to maybe either get it made for real first (which I've been trying to do but there seem to be no legit takers) so I could model it for a photo, or create a character of my own wearing the same first

Ah, I must admit I went to your gallery shortly after responding anyway, should have done that first On the topic of clothes though, I love the pants that one is wearing

I love these, especially the white and grey ones! If you ever find someone to make you one, definitely update here. I think they would make a killing off people who want this jacket, like me haha ^_^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to DanteRoseDen [2012-06-25 02:12:07 +0000 UTC]

Lol, it would be awesome if I could get a production line going Then again I don't think there would be a huge demand for them among regular people (everyone has already told me they're "too flashy" to wear just to the shops or whatever if I get one made ) I think most regular people are just too conforming like that But cool people like us would want one - it would definitely be my most worn item. Though I can't imagine a good quality one would ever come cheap And people won't buy something no matter how cool it is if the price tag has too many zero's in it

Though I'm not looking to get a production line going - I don't have the money or knowhow for that, plus I'd need to make up way more than 2 designs to start off with anyway. I really just wanted to get one for myself I still worry that someone else might see this and get theirs before me, especially if they are richer than me and can afford to get one no matter how much it costs (after all - I already did get one company I contacted tell me they could do it, but they asked for way too much for me to be able pay )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DanteRoseDen In reply to Chromattix [2012-07-16 21:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, money's going to be an issue... But perhaps a faux leather would be cheaper? Though probably not enough so
As for it being too flashy, maybe if it had fewer silver studs more people would jump on the bandwagon with us, haha ^_- Now that I'm looking again, the white version reminds me a bit of an Assassins Creed outfit. Which is awesome.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to DanteRoseDen [2012-07-17 01:32:36 +0000 UTC]

Nah, no faux leather for me, it's gotta be the real deal There's something about the look, texture, even smell of real leather that just can't be imitated But I may have to swallow my pride and remove some features for affordability and practicality

Cool! Glad you liked e'm

Sounds like you're in an ideal location If you know of anyone who makes on-request clothes (especially leather) don't be afraid to tell me I had no luck finding an affordable maker to bring these to reality. Almost everyone I found on Google didn't respond to my e-mails, and the one that did wanted almost 2k to make one jacket

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MetamorphisCouture In reply to Chromattix [2012-06-19 19:24:14 +0000 UTC]

Where are you looking to have these made? USA, China, Bangladesh... How many do you want made? I'm located nearby a lot of clothing manufacturers in Downtown LA and can keep my ears and eyes peeled for you definitely. I do custom garments and have not the tools, yet, to produce a heavy duty jacket such as that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to MetamorphisCouture [2012-06-19 22:55:28 +0000 UTC]

Most of the sites I came across were based in the USA I guess I would prefer it to be made in the USA where there's a higher standard of quality, but not if it's going to cost me almost $2000 to get one In all fairness though the people that quoted me that did seem to be very versatile. I could choose the type of leather and thickness I wanted and they had a lifetime guarantee because their leather garments are good enough even for motorcycle use, so basically I would have gone with them anyway...only if I had that kind of money to blow

I did get one made a few years ago from a company called "LeatherCult"...they're not bad and very affordable, but even though the site is based in the UK, the actual work is done in India and there were signs of cheapness and corners cut in a few areas...I didn't like the thin, flimsy leather it was made of too (I like them to look and feel a little bit stiff and sturdy, as if they really were safe to wear as motorcycle jackets )

I was hoping to just have 2 made for myself, I certainly don't have the money or knowhow to get a production line going. I wanted one of these here (red) and one of the similar vest I also made (black more likeley). I understand that a heavy duty one with thick leather that won't fall apart after a few years will cost a few hundred bucks to make, and I was ready to pay that. But anything in the four-digits is something I just can't justify buying

MetamorphisCouture In reply to Chromattix [2012-07-14 08:31:09 +0000 UTC]

Jobs that aren't mass will always be more expensive so that the manufacturer can keep their overhead costs down. My leather mentor charged 4digs for his custom cowboy boots. He makes Lemmy's from Motorhead which is pretty sweet. It was a real privilege apprenticing under him. Maybe in the future you could use him. riffraffleather.com. You could always source your own leather and bring it to the contractor, or get some upcycled. Try Sav-mor in LA, they have a ginormous selection of leather. Or even look up talented design students that are willing to work with you more for the experience and not so much the pay.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to MetamorphisCouture [2012-07-15 04:12:42 +0000 UTC]

Makes sense. I suppose anything that isn't mass-produced costs more. I may have to swallow my pride and pay a little more than I hoped. May be easier since I'm working now. But my main concern is if the jacket ever gets stolen. I'd never rest easy again knowing that I paid $1000 for a jacket and someone jealous of it pinched it

Anyway I contacted the guy on that riffraff leather site So here's hoping I get a response that isn't going to give me a heart attack I'm not sure if buying my own leather would be practical though - having anything shipped from the US to Australia costs a small fortune, which would be more again if I have to send it to a maker elsewhere. That's why I'm seeking makers who are able to source their own leather (and have a type I like)

I want to have them made, I've contacted my top-priority maker that I found online, they seem to be the most legit, but I have tried but failed with them before, each failed attempt makes my possibility of getting it made by someone who really knows what they're doing lower

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

phoenixwr3000 In reply to Chromattix [2012-04-02 02:54:31 +0000 UTC]

that's pretty much standard but i'm not sure if you'd want to pay for shipping as these people are here in the US.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to phoenixwr3000 [2012-04-02 03:02:48 +0000 UTC]

The only company that answered me back was that expensive one, and they said it would cost between $90 to $150 for shipping alone

I guess how much I'm willing to pay for shipping depends on the cost of the jacket. I have a set price maximum I'm willing to spend, and if the jacket + shipping both fit within it then it'll be worth it

Greetings Matthew,

Well this is most certainly very diverse from your other art. Although the "Indiana Jones" style is more to my personal taste, these are indeed unique designs and would be a sight to see in reality. Your attention to style, function and detail is most execeptional. You have assuredly demonstated your multifaceted artistic talent and I commend you on your obvious fashion design skills. If you should find a gifted leather artisan to accept the challenge be prepared for an outrageously high fee . . . Perhaps body and soul . . .

My best,
Michael C. Turner

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chromattix In reply to AstroBoy1 [2012-03-16 00:09:01 +0000 UTC]

Thankyou At least Indiana Jones type clothing is more accessible I could have sworn seeing replica's of his clothes available on some sites, and not just tacky "costumes" either, but real, proper clothes one could wear on a daily basis without looking silly

Many people say you need to take a course in fashion design, I guess there's a lot of extra fundamentals I would need to learn that I have no idea exist now, but for a first serious attempt by a non-college student, I don't think this is too bad a start But I still prefer doing my other, usual work more and always will. I just created this because I wanted something cooler to wear that I can say I designed myself, though I am dreading the fee once I find someone good enough to do it...if it's too high it might just have to stay as a design concept
