FINALLY!! A GIMP Tutorial that actually makes sense!!
Most of the "best" tutorials on DA are for PS, but I'm so happy that I've found this one...and it's so detailed and comprehensive!! Thank you so, so much, I really hope I can improve my art now!!

Great job! But could've you used some shadows on the water? It looks a bit like the horse is floating in mid-air.

I've heard about the grounding issue before, and I agree. This definitely isn't anywhere near my best work. I think the tutorial kind of took my attention away from the quality of the manip itself.

But the whole piece together is very astonishing! :3
Practice is the key, I assure you that the next piece will look 100x better! :3

Nah this is old, it doesn't really bother me.
My recent work is already a hundred times better xD

Yay!

Gimp has most of the same features as PS, you just have to know where to find them.

I think the best part about your art is that you use GIMP. It gives me hope lol! I don't have a tablet, but I'll try dodging and burning everything with my mouse. Usually I just paint white/grey/light blues for my highlights but I think I've been doing them over too large an area.

Thankyou for these awesome, informative tutorials!

I just got my tablet for Christmas, all of my art before Wonderwall was done with a mouse.
You just have to be a bit more careful with the mouse, that's all.

No problem, happy you found them useful!

All three of these tutorial are RIDICULOUSLY helpful, especially since you use GIMP! Most of the PS tutorials I see use tools that GIMP doesn't have. Everything you've written is easy-to-follow. I'll be sure to use it next time I make a manip. ^^

Just one question. For the outlining in white (err, whitelining, I guess it's called), I can never seem to get my lines to be smooth. Maybe my hand is too shaky? Does it just take practice, or is there a certain technique you can use? Also, should you put pen pressure on?

I'm so happy you find it helpful!

No problem, I tried to make it pretty easy to understand, and suitable for most programs.

Zooming in should help a LOT with the smoothness of your lines. Don't be afraid to take your time and zoom in 200%, 400%, 800% or as much as you need to. Practice will help too though.
Pen pressure should be on for size definately, opacity would be a personal preference though. I think I may have had it checked for this step.
