cl2007 — fire opal

Description fire opal from Mexico (all the info I have on this one).

Opal is the birthstone of October and is actually a mineraloid gel with 3% to 20% water content. the crystal structure (silica spheres in a latice) makes the light break down into the various colors.

this one was very hard to photograph and capture some of the colors

another stone (matrix) around the outside- makes it almost like a cats eye
