Description Simple + Clean v.3 & v.3.5
User Level: Intermediate

Live version for Simple + Clean v.3: [link]
Live version for Simple + Clean v.3.5: [link]

I didn't expect to create any more CSS designs, but there were some elements that bugged me and I just had to figure out how to do them. This version is a more intermediate CSS layout than the original.

Two different versions, as shown in the extremely large preview image, are included in the zip file.

Features:
  • Minimalist design to match dA's layout
  • Sidebar (Now in an easier to code format)
  • Gallery Menu Bar
  • Sibebar Boxes
  • Scrollboxes
  • Journal Subhead and/or Journal Description
  • No mood box (I think )
  • No Journal Entry Date
  • Zero graphical elements (though they may be added)

Thanks for using! I appreciate it.

To change the border, go to the .journalbox class and replace the current border code with "border: 3px solid #c2c2c2;". Of course, put whatever hex code you want for the border color here.

Gah, I'm sorry to bother you with annoying questions. x.x;

it seems that my journal CSS that I used from here appears fine in Internet Explorer, but appears completely jumbled up (boxes on top of one another etc) in Firefox. Is there a way to fix this?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaireJones In reply to vampiremackenzie [2007-08-23 22:31:02 +0000 UTC]

Now that's a first! Normally, the CSS doesn't work in IE.

I'll take a look at your journal and note you back, hopefully tonight.

Have you tried putting the code from the readme into your journal yet? Is there something more specific you're having trouble with?

karusuman In reply to ??? [2007-08-14 19:03:12 +0000 UTC]

It took me some time to notice, but at the top of the journal design there is a small bit of text that is almost too small to see. It says Journal Entry yadda yadda. Most people won't see it, but is there a way to make it completely vanish? If you need to see it in action, look at my page: its towards the top at the left in what I think to be font size 1.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaireJones In reply to karusuman [2007-08-14 19:47:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. That appears to be an IE bug (it's not there in Firefox, which is why I never saw it). Unfortunately, it isn't possible to get rid of the Journal Entry Date since CSS won't override that part of dA's code. The font size is technically set to 0px, but IE must ignore that. You can try adding "color: #BAC5BA;" into the .journaltop, which should render the text virtually transparent.

I've messed around a bit with the CSS...and if you look at my journal the design itself isn't even that complicating...
but it was frustrating figuring it out!

You've made some beautiful journals! I congratulate you on doing so!
You're brave in doing so

ClaireJones In reply to angelaART [2007-07-26 00:26:41 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much! Before I worked with dA journals, I only had a limited experience with CSS. Now, I have such a greater understanding of CSS versatility that I have been able to apply it to my personal websites.

If I ever get the guts to try CSS for my own journal (it seems so daunting for me), I'm going to go with this'n. It's stunning.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ClaireJones In reply to SilverBee [2007-07-22 00:57:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I've tried to make the process as straightforward as possible, but I'll admit that the CSS process on dA is a bit confusing. It took me awhile before I was brave enough to give it a try.
