Here’s Tails in his Kingdom Hearts get up and as promised a summary of the story. I warn you it is not a short summery, and if you don’t feel like reading the whole thing I won’t be offended.

The Master Emerald represents the heart of the world. Due to some experiments being done on the chaos emeralds by Dr. Eggman and Tails simultaneously, darkness claims the world. In order to protect the world’s existence from being lost to oblivion, the Master Emerald hides pieces of itself in several different worlds. By embedding a piece of itself in Knuckles the Master Emerald also takes steps to ensure the continued existence of its guardian, the key to its restoration. In the place of Awakening, Knuckles is presented a choice of weapons. The staff and shield are the same, but instead of being offered a sword Knuckles is offered a keyblade. He is told by a nameless voice (the Master Emerald) that with the keyblade he will be able to restore the Master Emerald but must sacrifice his friends. Worrying about his friends Knuckles hesitates and with his hesitation the keyblade decides to find a different master, someone with a stronger heart. From their Knuckles is flung to Traverse Town and continues much of his journey alone, searching for the pieces of the Master Emerald using his own strength, without relying on the keyblade. The keyblade is actually the seven chaos emeralds in a new form. They are unable to find one heart strong enough to satisfy what they seek in a master, so they decide upon four hearts; Amy, Silver, Shadow, and Sonic. Tails and Sonic were flung to Radiant Gardens upon the disappearance of their world. Because Tails was in contact with a chaos emerald when the world was lost, his existence is secure. However, Sonic slowly begins to fade away, even though the keyblade finds his strong heart so do the heartless. The ensuing battle of course attracts the attention of Leon and friends. Before Sonic can fade from existence however, Merlin conjures some enchanted clothes to help anchor Sonic to the land of the living. Merlin also explains that because of the keyblade, Sonic actually possesses three other hearts beside his own. In order to prevent each heart from battling the others for the right to exist, Merlin entrusts a special key to Tails, which enables him to decide who can exist at any given time. On top of that Merlin also gifts Tails with some clothes, to help him fit in, as well as a staff and some spells, so that he might better protect his friends.
