Description Jam on toast is just so, well boring sometimes, especially for my kids so today for breakfast I decided to liven it up a little by turning it into something a bit different. It's a mix between toast and bread pudding, there's not lots of liquid like with a bread pudding so it's half pudding, half toast really.

you can use fresh bread but dry bread works a little better.
you can use leftover cake or croissants instead of bread
instead of jam you can use marmalade or nutella.

Does it have to be jam? 'Cause I have a jar of Nutella but I don't know what to do with it.. Nutella and toast can get boring at times, any suggestions?

No it doesn't have to be jam I can not stand nutella on bread but I do love baking with nutella, nutella stuffed cookies, mixed in with cake batter or used as a filling or topping for cupcakes, mousse, in turnovers and pancakes, so many possibilities! Type nutella in my gallery search for all the photos of these to give you more of an idea.

Quick question. It says to put the bread with the butter and jam on it in the oven. How long would you say to leave them in there? Just out of curiosity. I want to make them, but I'd like to know that one little detail before I do. also, is a Ramekin? Is it like a little bowl of some sort?

cook for about 20 minutes or until the top starts to go crispy. Ramekins are small oven proof bowls and normally come in white.

These are absolutely amazing! Instead of using ramekins, because I don't have them, I used muffin/cupcake pans and I ended up using 9 pieces of bread. I put 3 swirls in each cup and followed the rest of the recipe. I only had to cook them for 9-10 minutes because they were starting to burn--but they were amazing, with the crispness of the top and softness on the bottom. I will probably make these again, but for more people--even though I do have 4 members of my family, including myself, these seem like a fun appetizer of some sort. Thanks Claremanson for another great recipe!

my husband did that once! he did the same to ice cream sauce, the type that goes rock solid once cold!!!!

I remember accidentally putting the icecream sauce in the fridge once, then it became chocolate shavings whenever someone wanted toppings...
