Helmeppo was introduced as the spoiled and cowardly son of Captain Morgan, who lived in Shells Town and had Zoro imprisoned for standing up to his bullying of the locals. After Morgan was defeated, Helmeppo joined the Marines with Coby and rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander under Garp's training, becoming much more humble, mature, and level-headed - even more so than Coby - and has also become more formal in his speech. He was extremely upset however, when Luffy and Zoro failed to recognize him when they met in Water 7. He wields dual kukri knives and is very skilled with them, but is still far outclassed by Zoro.Related content

THank you! I was pretty happy with it, and he was fun to do! I still don't like him either, and I thought about not doing him, but then I was like, "no that's not the point of this whole project, and even though he's still annoying, holy damn has he come a LONG way since his introduction - in maturity, personality, and even looks (though still nowhere NEAR even my top 20 One Piece hotties - he's just gotten better looking in comparison to his early look and the infamous onion haircut!)"
