Description
"Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh is a coating mechanic on Sabaody Archipelago, where he lives with his wife, Shakky. He was the first mate of the Roger Pirates and the Pirate King's right hand man. He trained Luffy in all three forms of Haki during the timeskip. He possesses all three forms himself, and is highly skilled in each, and can fight on equal terms with Logia users like Admiral Kizaru. His name comes from a combination of Long John Silver of Treasure Island, and Sir Walter Raleigh, a real life 16th century privateer. It may also refer to the phenomenon known as Rayleigh Scattering, which is the scattering of light that causes they sky to appear blue and the sun yellow, and is also responsible for the changing colors of the sky during sunset and sunrise. This alludes to both his epithet and ability to redirect (or "scatter") Kizaru's attacks. Rayleigh is also the first known former pirate to still have an active bounty, though the amount is yet to be revealed.
