"Saw-Tooth" Arlong is a saw-shark Fishman, half-brother to Madam Shyarly, former member of the Sun Pirates under Fisher Tiger, and later became captain of the Arlong Pirates and took over Conomi Island as the first step in his plan to rule East Blue. He built Arlong Park, his base of operations, took over the local villages and forced the citizens to pay for their lives at the price of $100,000 for adults and $50,000 for children - those who couldn't pay faced execution. He murdered Nami's adoptive mother in front of her for this reason, then took Nami as a slave to exploit her gift at cartography under the false promise that she could buy back the village's freedom if she raised $100,000,000. Little did she know, he was stealing her money and using it to pay off some corrupt Marines so he could continue his plan to conquer East Blue and subjugate all humans. After an incredibly tough battle, he was defeated by Luffy and arrested by more honorable Marines. He's very tight with his money, but prides himself on always upholding any agreements he enters into concerning money. He was imprisoned in Impel Down after he eant on a vengeful rampage after Tiger's death, but was later released when Jinbe became a Warlord of the Sea. So far, he is the first known character to be released from the underwater prison.
