Description
The Lockheed-Martin (Originally General Dynamics) F-16 'Fighting Falcon' began life as a 'lightweight fighter' and evolved into a very successful all rounder on both the domestic front in the USA, and with many countries all over the world.

The evolution of the different versions can be tracked by the 'Block Number' with 1/5/10 being the first into service with the USA in 1979, and the first into combat with the IDF in 1981. Production changes and additional pylons have made the F-16 adaptable and it often serves as a fighter-bomber as well as a pure fighter.

The F-16 is armed with 1 x 20mm 'gatling gun' type cannon and and a mixture of missiles, bombs, rockets, and fuel tanks can be equipped on 2 x wing pylons, 2 x wing-tip rails, and 3 x under fuselage pylons, including Sparrow, Sidewinder, IRIS, AIM-120, AMRAAM, and Python, Maverick, Shrike, HARM, Harpoon, and Penguin missiles, as well as most modern rocket pods, and Smart bombs.
