Description
It's a bit weird when people look at your diagnostic paper, and if it's above avarage they think "lol, she's gonna be the best student in the class".Sorry, not always true.
You indeed need to be an intelligent person to get As and Bs, and I think that most staight-A students are intelligent people.
But, when someone's grades tend to be mostly Ds, or even lower, people tend to immediately assume that "that kid is an idiot", or however "is intellectually inferior to straight-A students". This is not always true. Sometimes a people's grades can be inferior compared to their intelligence.
A person with an high IQ
... might have a learning disorder
... might not have enough motivation to study
... or might just be plain lazy.
Really, being intelligent and having good grades is all cool, useful and stuff, but this can't always happen. Fortunately, intelligence can be proved even through other activities that aren't school. Some people indeed prove their intelligence through school and studying; others prove it through other activities. It only depends on a person's skills.

when i was little and school was more about logic than anything else, i excelled. i was very logically smart, i wasn't a dumb kid, i'm still not technically dumb. around 3rd grade, when we started having to take standardized tests, is where i started hating school. however, the stress of school wasn't big until 5th grade when we got piles of homework and were pressured to good on the PSSAs, our state's standardized tests. since i was such a good student in elementary, my grandparents automatically assumed i'd just be smart the rest of my life. they actually yelled at me over getting a B before. a B. a B isn't that bad. a B is actually fairly good, especially when i'm doing work when i'm stressed out of my mind.

The laziness thing is me in a nutshell. I have an IQ of 145 and yet, I can't seem to get through Programming class with a decent grade. Then again, I don't see how programming will help me in life, so...yeah.

For some reason I get really high scores on English (the subject) state tests, but struggle with the actual class.

I am the most intelligent person in my whole school. Not that my grades will tell you that. I guess it's stupid laziness weighing me down.

I ended up tryingΒ hard just to Just get Cs and Bs and I have an IQ of 123, and I still some how ended up near the bottom of the cohort with ah horrible OP prediction. really good thing that a diploma in general science can be used as a stepping stone to greater things.

My dad is a member of MENSA and he never even finished high school. He went to a tech school, but his "grades" were terrible in high school, and the man is a freaking genius. And as a Neuroscience major, I fully support this!

I am intelligent and all my averages are A's. And I do know that my friends are intelligent, yet make low grades. Since I am "the best kid in the class" to my classmates, it is easy to make them stop making fun of my friends low grades. So, i say if you are smart/intelligent/knowledgable and make low grades, it's ok! Stand up for your self!

Indeed. I have an exceptionally high IQ and I have VERY low grades. Intelligence and knowledge are two different things.Β
Plus, I'm more of a hands on learner... maybe that's just the way our minds are wired.

Personally, I have learned more things on my own than at school. The school system is too rigid for me, and it doesn't take into account the different abilities of different students.

Exactly! The teaching method doesn't generally apply to every student... I think everyone has their own unique way of learning, and even though teachers try to use a more familiar (or so they think) method of teaching, I can't really seem to grasp anything. In it goes through one ear and out the other.Β

It also works the other way around too. Good grades =/= high IQ. I knew a lot of kids in high school who got A's in most of their classes but in reality were pretty much as smart as a thumb tack. XD

I agree, at my old school, if you wanted to be involved in other activities, you had to be a good student, which is stupid because everyone has different talents and should let those talents be known to other people. You could get kicked out the musical or a sports team if you had low grades.
I hate teachers, they think that everyone can be "smart" like them, and handle their work. They think EVERYONE should conform to them. -_-

Yeah, it got worse after we had a teacher become the director, which is the worse idea ever. The only reason why was because we got rid of our old director who was a semi-professional actor, and he always did a great job, but when our new principal came( who was a HORRID bitch) and fired him, because we "didn't have the money" (which was pretty ironic because we built a brand new baseball field). So our new director was just too fixated on his beliefs, and even kicked a kid out of the show A WEEK before it because he missed a rehearsal that he even had an excuse for. Ugh.. the "politics" were just horrible, and the seniors who worked hard to try to get a lead all got thrown into the ensemble and a little bitch sophomore got the lead. It was just.. awful.. my high school was terrible, I know there are high schools worse off than my old one.. but it just SUCKED.
Oh yeah, and there was this girl who played lacrosse and she was really good at it.. but wasn't very good at trig, and she just took a test and didn't know if she passed or not, so she asked her coach ( who was a bitch also) and her coached said no..

When you said that your school couldn't afford the director but they made a new baseball field, that reminded me that schools will cut arts and music for sports. Arts and music will make you more successful.

My IQ is not considered gifted, but still above avarage.
I don't know what my IQ is now. When I was in elementary school it was 107, but in the last IQ test a shrink gave me I scored 120. This was a few years ago. Ahw well, I think it remained the same, or at least, I think it didn't change much.
Most of my grades are Ds, though I also have a few Cs and Bs. No trace of an A, lol.
However, I'm mostly happy with my grades.
