Description
I made a stamp like this one for sexualities, now here's one for mental disorders.I hate it when mental disorders are turned into stereotypes, and after that into fads.
"AI AM GOOD AT MATH, AI AM ASOCIAL, AI MUST HAVE AUTISM!1!!!!"
"LULZ, I'M HYPER, I MUST HAVE ADHD, LOL"
"AN HOUR AGO I WAS HAPPY, BUT I'M SAD NOW, I MUST HAVE BIPOLARISM"
I hate when people talk like that.
HFA/Asperger's, ADHD/ADD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, multiple personality disorder, and many others, have all turned into fads, something everyone should have, something you should be proud of, something to brag about on your web page, something that makes you cooler than other, "normal" human beings.
I'm not saying people should be ashamed of having a mental disorder or hide it from everyone like if it was something wrong you did, because you wasn't the cause of it, and I think that you can sometimes talk about it with someone, if you want. But being proud of it seems really stupid to me, as well as bragging about it with people. I don't see why someone should be proud or ashamed of having a disorder since they weren't the cause of it. Someone could just accept it, you mustn't necessarily be proud or ashamed of it, but, whatever.
The fact it that too many people use these disorders as fads, expecially Asperger's, ADHD and bipolarism at the moment. Asperger's most of all.
I clearly remember that, 9-10 years ago, when I was diagnosed with Asperger's and ADHD, no one knew what Asperger's was, but schizophrenia was the fad at the moment and everyone claimed to have it.
Or, 5 years ago, borderline PD was the fad, and even if Asperger's was alredy well-known, everyone claimed to have borderline. I can remember some people I know that at the time said "I don't have that stupid disorder called Asperger's, I have borderline", and now, after five years, when Asperger's is the new fad, they claim they have Asperger's. How stupid.
I hate when disorders are turned into fads because of some idiots that want to be different. Some people end up not believing people with the real disorders, or just assuming that a person "doesn't have it" because their disorder is not like the general stereotype.
Like, I've had someone telling me I was not intelligent enough to have Asperger's. Or another one who said that I smiled and laughed too much to have it.
I can't really trust people on the web when they claim they have a disorder, and I don't blame people if at first they don't take me seriously about that. It's easy to recognize the difference between someone who truly has one and someone who doesn't IRL, but it's not on the web. I usually observe them. I think that, if someone makes such a big deal about it, brags about it, feels cooler because of it and talks about it like if it was a stereotype and people with it were all the same, they probably don't have it. Ahw, well. My opinion at least.

Oh... these people are complete douchebags when they use the disorders like a fad, or a joke, or as an excuse!
In real life, I have Asperger's Syndrome (For real, not as a joke). These people using it should be ashamed of themselves! I mean, people who joke about having a disability. DO YOU HAVE ANY CLUE!?

This stamp is me in the nutshell, real people who have those kinds of disorders ( OCD, ADHD, Aspergers, Bipolar, Borderline Personality, Schizophrenia, etc. ) will not admit it. And never, ever be proud of it. I don't like it when people got bullied, and make fun of in social media, then go:
" OHhh! doN'T mAIK FUN OF MEeeHH, I HaVH DEPReSSON, I CuT MAHSELF EVERIDEEEI, AnD i WANNA KILL mAHSELF!"
Like, do they treat depression as a joke? It's a serious thing that should not be talked about, and should not be taken seriously.

I do speak about my diagnosis openly--but the purpose of that is so if someone needs help, they know they can come to me and I will listen and hopefully be able to help them get help, without feeling like they're being judged.Β I do not use my depression and anxiety as excuses.Β Hell, even when I was in my most severe crisis, one thing I VERY MUCH wanted was to make sure that I got back out of it and recover, not wallow in a safe space forever.Β I cannot stand people trivializing REAL disorders by claiming that merely disagreeing with someone means they have anxiety/PTSD and need a safe space.Β If you genuinely have those disorders, you should want to get OUT of that place ASAP.

Plus, I have mild Autism and people on the internet and some kids at my school use it as memes and jokes just to look cool and be popular. It's not funny, they're offensive and they just be like "We were just joking. Calm down." or "Can't you take a joke?" Autism and other disabilities are NOT JOKES! Of course, People don't listen and they don't care.

A couple of my classmates need to see this. Day after day, they make fun of special needs children and treat each other like them! They be like "Hey, use your safe hands!" "Take it down a notch!" "Go play in your wheelchair and use your tablet and coloring packet." And I say to them "NOBODY IN OUR CLASS HAS THE RIGHT TO BE TREATED LIKE SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS! THIS IS AN INCLUSION SCHOOL, NOT THE "TREAT-THE-CLASSMATES-YOU-DON'T-GET-ALONG-WITH-LIKE-THEY'RE-SPECIAL-NEEDS-KIDS-SCHOOL" NOW STOP USING PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DISABILITIES AS JOKES AND INSULTS, GROW UP AND SHUT UP!" But of course, they don't listen and they never take me seriously. Not even if I'm angry.

This is so true, I love this so much! Mental Illnesses are serious, NOT romantic.
There is an annoying boy in my class who pretends that he has autism, OCD, aspergers, dyslexia, depression all at the same time. Being someone with Aspergers, it makes me very sad to see such a disrespectful classmate.

I find this very annoying. I, myself have not been diagnosed with a disorder but every time i show 1 symptom of a disorder my parents seem to think i have it.
My mom thinks i have adhd because i'm hyper but doesn't she realize i only get hyper when i'm excited or when i finally feel alive for once in my life? Also that's not all there is to adhd.
My parents used to think i had odd because they didn't realize that people with odd are always kicking and screaming. I sometimes fight with people but about as much as anyone would the only person i actually get mad at a lot is my stupid father but he always gets mad at me first when i'm not even being disobedient. Ppl with odd are very disobedient and i almost always do as told. A professional confirmed that i don't have it so now my parents don't think this but jeez, i'm not nearly as much of a brat as they seem to think i am.

I'm sick of dumbasses who uses a mental disorder as a excuse for shit they do when I myself does more intelligent things.
I'm sick of people who does it thinking it's cool, it's a fucking burden. I was stuck into a box for 5 years treated like a farm animal until my school realizes that I have a light case.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one.

I totally agree. Β When people say they have mental disorders when they don't, as a joke or not, it's very offensive to people that have actually been diagnosed, such as myself (I have severe ADHD). Β Mental disorders are also so much more complicated than the stereotypes make them out to be. Β Having ADHD isn't just about being hyper, being schizophrenic doesn't mean your a crazy psycho who hears voices, having depression doesn't just mean you're sad, and so on. Β I also hate that people think it's cool to have a mental disorder when they don't really know what it's like. Β They should be happy they don't have one, and I know from experience that having a disorder makes several things harder for me than someone without one.

Every comment I see on YouTube these days always have someone talking about their autism. So many, in fact, I don't know if they really have Austism. Which is sad actually, because self-diagnosing yourself is far different than getting a professional diagnose.

Over a year ago, I self-diagnosed myself with ADHD, Autism, and OCD. Just because I had about 1-2 symptoms for each.
If I have a mental disability, it's likely just light ADHD.
Also, I hate when people say "u dun hav dipreshun ur just sad!!!". Sadness only lasts for around a day, while depression lasts for weeks, months, or even years at times.Β
