Clelius β€” They're not fads

Description I hate when people do this.
Sexual orientations aren't fashion accesories. They're a natural thing you can't control, and turning them into a fad is really stupid, and rather insulting to people whose sexual orientations became silly fads kids use to look cooler in the latest years.
Like:
"I'M BI, I'M SUCH A REBEL!1!!1!1" (using bisexuality because it's the most used "fashion accessory" at the moment)
Really, like 60-70% of the web claims to be bi/gay/pansexual, where are straight people now??
I can't take someone seriously when they say they're bisexual, gay, or whatever, because too many people are faking it to get attention.

The exact reason I'd never touch Tumblr with a ten foot long pole.... Being queer is nothing to brag about, it makes the entire comunity look like freaks.
But what is even worse than gay/bi-trenders are trans-trenders. Genderdisvoria is a serious condition and really the last thing that should be glorified or worn as a fad, but those stupid kids still do it, because beeing gay/lesbian/bi/pan isnt edgy enaugh anymore.Β

I used to think I was asexual, but then I realized I just hadn't experienced sexual attraction at the time. I've wanted to be bi for the sake of being cool in the past but now I've accepted that I'm 100% straight.

I am asexual but I do feel like there's a fad going on with this.Β  I feel like people make way too much of a big deal out of their orientations and then use it as an excuse to demand special treatment (beyond ordinary basic human decency).

I decided That I was ace, for a few reasons

1. I never really felt like I wanted a gf/bf, except when I was younger.

2. I didn't truly like them, just "dated" them even then.

3. After the crap people put me through, I felt less attraction to anyone, I can still have friends and care for them obviously, Β but I don't feel like dating/doing it with anyone.

I'm pan and I always hide it from people so they don't call me a SJW Tumblrina. This whole "I'm gay that's edgy!!" thing has gotten out of hand. All these people start 'knowing' their identity from Tumblr, while I know because I've liked multiple girls in a romantic way.

I'm gay, and I always hid my sexuality because I was afraid of what people would think, and yes, I know sexuality is much more complex than "finding one sex prettier". Sexuality is what you get turned on by.

I'd like a citation on that if possible.

I don't think it is so much a fad as it is alternate orientations are becoming more acceptable and people are more likely to explore their own sexuality and express what they discover about themselves. The internet just happens to be one of the safest places for this to occur.Β

Can we just have one LBGT story that isn't a homoerotic version of a Harlequin romance for once. Why does every LBGT story have to be a lusty infatuation love story? If we can have regular stories with regular characters have romance as a spice, and not a dish, why can't we do the same with stories with LBGT characters? Have these creators thought that not all LBGT people are into mushy romance stories? Why can't we have action with LGBT characters. It's always romance and lust stories with them. I find that offensive.

I'm also sick of the LBGT Mary Sue and Gary Stu characters. It's like giving a LBGT character a regular human flaw is homophobic to some people. I'm sorry, but positive stereotypes are still stereotypes, and they are just as annoying as negative stereotypes. Either way, it pisses me off to no end. Equality, not "Speshul Snowflake" treatment! That's what I say.Β

I think I might be asexual; I've had crushes on boys but I'm not really interested in sex. I've always been kind of confused about my sexuality and it wasn'tΒ until a few years agoΒ that I found out about the term asexual and wondering if that's whatΒ I was; it's not becauseΒ I want to beΒ cool or something, I just didn't know what it was until recently. It doesn't help that asexuals are so misunderstood; apparently,Β you have to be interested in having sex with someone. I don't understand the big deal about sex or sexuality; I know it's important to other people but I just don't feel that way. I also don't understand the appeal of slash and why it's everywhere; I understand supporting a cannon gay/lesbian couples or wanting more characters with sexual variety in the media just not fandom slash.

This is actually something I've never really seen here in the UK and stuff. Maybe it's because I'm in a Catholic school or something. The amount of LGBT students in our school is probably less then 0.5%, and most will say they've known since about year 6 or earlier. I came out sort of by accident as a year 7 by a statement overheard by some dickhead in my class. I'm actually genderfluid (and I knew I wasn't the same as other girls since I was like...9 or 10) but I came out of lesbian because I was questioning and I didn't need to feel more crap. I don't understand why people wave their sexuality about all the time - even if people where I live are accepting there's no need to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

aquotic-boosters In reply to taylorisbeingbae [2015-09-01 02:48:20 +0000 UTC]

most of the problem comes from heteronormativity in our society. people, at first, believe that someone is heterosexual. It's really only after the announcement of being something else than heterosexual that people know that someone isn't het. That's why other sexualities get announced more often.

Yeah, I suppose, but some people take it too far. It's like they don't really won't homosexuality/being non-binary to be normal.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

aquotic-boosters In reply to taylorisbeingbae [2015-09-01 09:19:11 +0000 UTC]

the problem is trying to make them equal, they're forced to keep saying that they're gay in a society that normalizes being straight.
