Description
Probably the last image for tonight, thanks to advice fromΒ www.deviantart.com/fishytree , I actually got the textures fixed, I think it's done now, I'll probably continue tweaking it and adding details where necessary, but overall, that's the X-wing!Related content

THERE IT IS! Looking REALLY good! Now, some lighting is needed, and dude.. We GOTTA talk about fixing that background next. Are you using a plane with the image unwrapped onto it? That's OK, but it works much better to use the background itself with an image texture, or a sphere mesh works too.Β

Thanks! The current lighting is coming from the background, so I guess yeah, I should put a sun somewhere. I'm actually using the background, it's an environment texture applied to the world. I think I just need to find a better image to apply. Or I COULD try using a sphere, but I think using a better image is best...

When setting up your background, use an image texture + Mapping node + geometry node. That's hows I've been doing it anyway. Your way works as well. In fact, there's about 100 useful ways to make a decent background.Β

Ohh, okay. I'll give your way a try and play around with it a bit, see what I can come up with. In the end, though, I expect a better resolution image is probably the best answer. I'll try nodes, though.

Both is the answer. I really like the 8k "milky way" texture on the bottom of this page, it's totally free.

When you do try it with nodes, there's a few tricks to it. You have to use the "mapping" node to position it. The "X" rotation should always be 270, and depending on the angle, the "Y' rotation should be 90. But that's dependant on the angle of the camera it seems.Β

Ohhh, okay. I get it! Thanks for that link, by the way, I was actually just going back in to see if I could find the piece that you'd shown me that link on before, that makes it a lot simpler I'll add that to the scene immediately. Thanks!
