Description
Created for the Dragons of Tarkir set of Magic: The Gathering. The image depicts a Djinn whose skin is porpoise-like according to the styleguide so I patterned the eye and teeth design off of porpoises also. I was going to do lightning style magic arcs coming from the spell but they are used so much I decided to go for more of a sonic disturbance. Small skin color variations around the eye, nose, knuckles and ends of fingers are a great way to add a bit more color and is something I picked up watching Face Off.Card flavor text, "'The Ojutai are my favorite victims. They have so much knowledge to lose.' -Asmala, Silumgar sorceror"

Mind Rot has one of the best galleries in Magic and this has to be one of the best versions.Β I particularly like how the Jeskai eye, a dignified mark of mental achievement, gets warped into a savage mark of mental assault.

The card is average, which is a shame because I think this is one of my favorite pieces of art in the set. Great job

The "sonic" ring effects look great! Solid design all around.

A really cool image- I really love how you captured the texture of the skin and the light on it- and some interesting notes on its creation! I always love learning more about what goes into designing these images.
