Description
Created for an informal art show coming up. Mixture of vine charcoal, charcoal pencil and graphite pencil on illustration board, 15x20".Many thanks to DA's own Ibvaha who graciously gave permission for use of the source image.
There's a couple of little things that bug me so I may go back and tweak them and if I do I'll update the image later. Cheers

this is beautiful, the shading is incredibly well done

It appears too large as we're seeing it flat on (something that doesn't happen often). Comparing the length of the palm to the fingertip against the face you can see it's proportional.

I see what you mean. Looks like with a little more shading you can fix that.

Wow, this is really good. I love the folds in the shirt, it's messy (in a good way), but you can still see it clearly. Awesome stuff!

I think it would help if you put some shadows in the hand like you did on the face. It wouldn't take much but if you leave it as it is it looks like you got a little lazy

I've checked the size multiple times, it's accurate. As a form of optical trickery a hand appears much larger when flat on with fingers spread as compared to when tilted or with fingers closed. As a rule the distance from palm of hand to tip of middle finger is the same as the distance from the chin to the hairline, which it is.

I think i have to agree with Moonxels... the hand looks and most likely is to big. The hand is bent in the wrist and you probably ought to take the messurement from the bottom of the wrist and not the top + the fingers are slightly bent... so you have to imagine how big the hand would be if they were drawn straight + the hairline is not well defined... It could also be that the face is slightly to small, beacause the eyes are supposed to be at the center of the head. I hope this helps...

i think you got the hand perfect, mostly people tend to draw it to small, i know i do this sometimes. i really love your gallery

fantastic stuff, the hand looks massive, i don't think its wrong, just looks huge because of her small frame
