Description
In contrast to some of the more complex and imaginative subjects I've been doing I wanted to do a simple portrait. The model is fictional and borrows her name from Les Miserable.Painted in Adobe Photoshop

Do you ever make tutorials?

I don't do many tutorials but you may want to look at the images that show piece progression in the Step-by-Steps folder of my gallery as well as my sister account PaintOver or my ebook . I will be creating a workshop piece for an upcoming magazine but it won't be out for a couple of months. If you have specific questions I'd be glad to answer them as time allows.

Simply stunning. Did you use any reference? For a fictional character, she is amazingly full of life and breathtakingly beautiful. Kudos for such a lovely work of art!

While she is based on no specific person, yes, I did have some reference for various parts. In order to capture the depth of field I wanted I had a photograph using the same; I had a couple for the hair as I can be lousy with that; some for freckles etc.

Her being fictional reminds me of the story of Pygmalion who fell in love with an ivory statue of a beautiful maiden he himself created. He prayed to Aphrodite to breath life into her which she did and then they married. This work makes the idea of falling in love with ones own creation almost plausible, she is THAT beautiful. Very beautiful !
