Description
Sometimes a bird conspires with light to produce a photo that demands black and white. I think I'll memorize that rhyme. Photo taken at dawn, 1/4/12, in my garden, Overland Park, Kansas, USA. My muse for this shot was my love for all things wild.Related content

This is a very nice photo, I like the shadows and the darker atmosphere. I think black and white fits this photo well, I can imagine it in colour and it wouldn't quite fit.
I like that the main focus is the bird and that the tree branches don't take from that. I like that you can see half of the birds face and that -unlike many bird photo's- the bird's head isn't straight.
I think the only thing that I would change is the movement of the wings, the photo captures the bird taking off/landing but the wings are a blue and I'd like it a bit more if they were not.

The gray scale get to it very well, the scene is well captured, the capture of the details is just too good, the drama created by the moving figure gives the impression that this has a goal and that is intended to achieve it.
In addition also have a clear grasp of lights, that detail speaks well of your technique, and the fact of having taken the liberty of playing with the balance between figure and ground.
I can add you in short it is a very good shot, Keep up the good work.
my favorite part is, the impression given by the dove, when in full flight initiation it appears to be taking off and landing both or rather looking for a place to land.

Fantastic image. The sharpness of the eye is perfect, the motion blur of the wings create a sense of motion that is just incredible. You literally expect the bird to fly out of the screen. Congratulations for a great photo and a well deserved DD.
