Name: Masquerade

Gender: ???

Species: Mutated feline

Distinctive Physical Features:

- Dark eye bags
- Mime-like appearance
- Always wears red ribbon around neck
- Mime outfit is optional
- Mutates a lot and at will

Masquerade has the unique ability to control how they mutate and when. This gift does not make them stronger or immune to harm, it only acts as a scare tactic to those who pose a threat to them. However, Masquerade does have a tendency to play 'pranks' on others using this ability. Examples of their mutations can be seen on the reference sheet, but they can change almost anything about their body. (Not shape shift though)

Masquerade was mutated in a military lab located in Russia. Their intended purpose was to be a nurse's aid, helping the human medical team when treating wounded and recovering soldiers. Because of this, Masquerade's voice box was surgically removed so they could not rebuttal to any orders placed on them, turning them into a slave. Their only form of communication was sign language.
This all changed once the base they lived in was invaded by gigantic, monster-like machines, out for human blood. They destroyed the base, allowing for the mutants inside, including Masquerade, to escape. After months of over bearing control and torture, Masquerade was free to roam the war torn land. They wandered for weeks on end in isolation, until they came across a wasteland of radioactive towns, villages and landscapes. This place, they learned, was referred to as 'No-Man's Land'. It was here that Masquerade met another mutant just like them, named Grimsmile. Despite them not being able to speak, they were able to teach Grim how to understand sign language until she could easily understand them. The two soon became inseparable.

Both Masquerade and Grimsmile live with Steamtrain and the other mutants in No-Man's Land and are a part of the unofficial circus there. Steamtrain acting as the ringleader, Grimsmile being the clown, and Masquerade, or course, as the mime.
